LGBT Rights in Japan

Subhankar Zac

Hare Krishna,Hare Krishna,
Japanese values still represent the progeny ideals of marriage. It's social thinking still has to evolve but they're making restaurants where customers can eat a woman's ***... So, strange and really bizzare!

In many, many ways Japan is very conservative and traditional. And, much like it is in America, you find more tolerance for homosexuals and transgender people in bigger cities.

As someone who is a straight ally, most East Asian countries are pretty abysmal for LGBTQI rights.

South Korea is homophobic due to the evangelical/Catholic Christian influence.

North Korea and China are homophobic because oppression is what they do best. Historically, members of the LGBTQI community have been at the forefront of building more open societies, and hence the persecution of this group in authoritarian countries.

Japan, because they imported supposedly "Western" ideas during the 19th century and never got rid of them.

The only somewhat decent country when it comes to LGBTQI rights is Taiwan, but they're still far behind the West.
