Life must work out in my favor

The Transcended Omniverse

Well-Known Member
If I had the choice to either live a finite life that has much suffering and misery to help others, make the world a better place, contribute to society, etc. or to instead live an eternal life that is blissful, has no suffering or illness, is eternally blissful, and is a life where I can get what I want, then I would choose the latter.

That is the only thing I value. Since that is the only thing I value, then this is my only basis for value judgment. That is the only way I can be a valuable person and my life valuable and worth living. So having that would make me the much better person than those who would choose the former. I view myself as being the better person than those other types of kind altruistic people who are in great suffering and illness in less developed parts of the world. People who would choose the former lifestyle I presented above would have a different basis for value judgment.

They would see their altruistic and self-sacrificing personalities as defining the value of a human being and the value of their lives. So they would see themselves as the much better person than me while I see myself as the much better person than them. The attributes of the latter lifestyle do not dictate the value of a human being or the worth of one's life for those other types of people I mentioned while these attributes are the sole determining factor of the value and worth of me and my life.

I do not value death and nor do I value any condemning religion that expects you to worship and serve a god. I do not serve or dedicate my life to anybody. I am only here to be happy, to have as little misery and suffering as possible in my life, and to get what I want in life. What I want to happen to me after I die is for there to be an eternal blissful afterlife for me.

Everything in this life must work out in my favor, otherwise I would become violent and I would stab myself and laugh while blood is gushing out of me since I don't have to obey anyone who expects me to live such a life I don't value. The only life I value is one where everything works out in my favor. I refuse to live a life that is not meant for me. I don't care about my family or anything/anyone else. My only reason for being here in this life is to have everything work out in my favor.

I got news for you, the world doesn't revolve around you or any other human for that matter.

That's bad news for me. If that is really the case, then I am out of this life. I am not even going to bother living it. I would just give up and throw myself away. I would throw myself away since a life where I can get what I want is the only thing that dictates the value of me as a human being and my life. So without that, then I am trash worthy of being thrown away.

I don't know how old you are, but how have you survived thus far? Have your parents sheltered you from reality?

I am 28 years old. I was raised in a safe home and environment. My mother allows me to play videogames and live for my own happiness and my hobbies. She doesn't expect me to live for others or contribute to society. But I would help her out when she is sick or when she asks me to.

There is no God who cares, no justice, and no guarantees.
What there is morality and charity and self sufficiency and those are your best shot at a secure, high quality, life.
Hedonist pursuit of pleasure is a short term thing. It doesn't usually work out well in the long term. Recognizing that you are an integral part of the Human Family and Biosphere and behaving that way is more likely to result in happiness than more short sighted goals.

"Saintly" (not necessarily religious) people tend to have the best lives.

If you can read this, you are as lucky as I am.
Do you have access to medical insurance? If so, I might suggest some counseling.

Many humans end up suffering needlessly because their under the impressing that everything they think and feel is supposed to be a choice back by faith in absoutle free will.

You may just need less serotonin inhibition.

Hello MattMVS7,

Are you the guy played by Andy Griffith (Matlock)?

Would you mind if I give you the good news that the eternal life minus the sufferings we experience in today's life is exactly what the hope of the Christian gospel is all about? We suffer in this life because we live in a world that's corrupted by human nature (pride, greed, murder, want for other's belongings, want for revenge, etc. - all of which is contained in the word, "sin.") and is thus cursed. The sum total of the good and the evil we see in the Bible is a sketch of fallen mankind bent toward evil in the sight of a just and merciful God that wants to redeem man from the corrupt nature. The sketch lays out the plan by which redemption occurs.

This feat is impossible for an individual by doing things his way. The same was tried for a society by a guy named Karl with the help of one whose last name was Engels. His effort mega-flopped but is still tried.

Businesses do not like the loss of customers because of wrong impressions on the part of the customers. They instead wish very much that the lost customers would enjoy the excellence of the products they offer instead of being misled to an inferior product. What God has to offer is unparalleled! Is God a person that wants to force His ways on you and me? Did Mom and Dad try to force their love on you or forced you to love them? Love is not love unless carried out peacefully, voluntarily, and freely. It is unfortunate that God is too often presented as if forceful in nature.

When one finds himself unable to pay a banker a large sum of money owed because of an undesirable circumstance, there's a big difference in his relationship whether the person faces the banker with honesty and if he runs violently from the banker for fear. God thus waits for you and me to go to Him in honesty for our shortfall to forgive us because our infinite debt has been paid in full.

Earthly suffering is the consequences of man's rebellion against God. Why does God allow it to good people? It is the same reason the mother eagle removes bits from the nest to expose uncomfortable stickers to force the young to want to leave the nest.

Speaking of values, we are all of value greater than all the precious minerals combined. Gold is refined by fire. God sees us according to the great potentials He invested in us and therefore wants you and me for the great good He has waiting for us! Tyranny is not found in the God of peace.

For those that think I'm deluded with hope for eternal life after this life, please note:
Even if true there's no life beyond this life as often claimed by some, I would rather live this life enriched by empowering hope for eternal life than to live my life without this hope in a meaningless fashion filled only with fear and false promises. If I end up in oblivion, at least I enjoyed my life better. But true hope is not deceptive by nature. Much evidence for eternal life is around us if we care to see. Once attained, it's even joyfully lived in this present body.

While I'm with you, I hope that you or the operators of the forums don't mind if I include a statement that you made on a leg that was shut down before I was able to answer with a post.

Here is the statement:
Worldviews, in my honest opinion, should only stay within the boundaries of the individual. Once these worldviews carry on over to the lives of other people and starts condemning them, that is when it has gone too far.

I am with you 100% that no one should force his views on another. My Bible tells me to always follow the way of peace. But what if the other guy has needed advice that you or I may be unaware of? Aren't we helpers of one another!

Suppose we live in a land where the National Bureau of Standards is despised because it was declared unconstitutional by activist judges. Each of us would then be allowed to make units of measurement such as inches and gallons whatever size we want. When a person goes to buy 10 gallons of gasoline at $1.20 per gallon, and with the government no longer able to impose- uh- uh- I mean provide the standard to streamline trade, which differing sized "gallon" should be imposed- uh- uh- I mean accepted? Should it be the smaller "gallon" of the merchant or the customer's larger "gallon?" Both should be allowed to live by their own "standards?" Multiply this scenario by 100 so that you would have 100 possible causes of fights daily. Doesn't this land appear to be similar to the land we live in where good moral standards have been overturned one by one by activist judges?

The Biblical Judeo-Christian worldview provides the standard for protecting the unalienable rights of us all and should never be eliminated!

Twilight Hue

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.
After reading this I thought I was in the Journal section.
Yea. It's fitting as a journal.

I suppose a static life of bliss is no more appealing than its counterpart. I figure deadening physical pain and tempering emotional parameters will serve to suffice just as well.

Please seek professional psychiatric help if that is how you truly feel. That is not normal, that is not healthy, and such a sentiment makes me worry you'll eventually have a victim because things will not always (probably rarely so) work out your way.
To everybody else, age or generation has nothing to do with such an attitude.
