Life Without The Apple Incident

The most commonly agreed upon location of Eden was at the confluence of the Tigris and Euphrates rivers, now known as Mesopotamia.
I used to agree with that, unfortunately, it doesn't quite make sense. Since we are told that the trees of Eden have been destroyed, not much is left to go on. Especially, since I tend to believe that Pangea was what the earth looked like, perhaps, before the flood.

If you look at the directions of Eden, in Gen 2, you will see that the references are to what did not exist before the flood since these refer to Noah's descendants.
. 12 And the gold of that land is good; bdellium and the onyx stone are there. 13 And the name of the second river is Gihon: that is it which surrounds the whole land of Cush.
Cush is said to be Ethiopia, thus my guess of the Nile and other river systems, such as the Congo river that clearly both are enormous and flow in opposite, kind of, directions. What names rivers had before the flood, I think none knows.

When including Chinese ancient stories about where they came from, the beginning of the Nile seems more appropriate. But, everything about this is guesswork. Nothing remains to guide us. There is something in Guinea, West Africa, that intrigues me. Could it be a depiction of Eve?!

Anyway, this is just fun and games with nothing to assist the fun or the games.

BTW, where did you find that cute picture of the serpent? Cute.

The most commonly agreed upon location of Eden was at the confluence of the Tigris and Euphrates rivers, now known as Mesopotamia.

In Mesopotamia the Mesopotamians had grown many crops and used them in their daily life everyday. Major crops were barley, dates, wheat, lentils, peas, beans, olives, pomegranates, grapes, vegetables, and pistachio nuts. In Mesopotamia normally people ate only two meals a day, except for the rich, most people drank large amounts of beer up to a gallon a day and unleavened bread. Since meat was so pricey, most people ate cooked vegetable stews. They grew many fruits, apples, pears, grapes, figs, quinces, plums, apricots, mulberries, melons, and pomegranates.

BTW, your Mesopotamia paragraph was a lot of fun. I liked the information about their foods. Not sure that I believe they only ate two meals a day, but, then I tend to be a skeptic - except when I ain't.

What would our life be like today, 6,021 years since the creation of Adam & Eve, if they never "fell"?

Overpopulation?
No wars?
No competitive spirit?
No hate?
No comparative love?
Nowhere to necessarily go on Sunday mornings?

This is a good topic. Things would be perfect. You, I and everyone else would be perfect. The environment would be perfect. We would honor God and thank him daily for our blessings of a perfect world. No worry about overpopulation, war, competition at work from a fellow employee, hate, comparative love, etc. Every morning would be like a Sunday as we rise to worship and honor God. Now that you mention it, I think war would be a thing that we must do like death and taxes since we live in a fallen world.

I suppose we would be living in the Biblical world of Genesis 1 and not the natural world.

Sounds like my life. Two meals a day is quite common. And who can afford meat?

It took billions of people, billions of minds, from all walks of life to bring mankind to its current level of technology. If Adam and Eve had not ate the apple there would be only two people, two minds working on mankinds technological advancements. Over the course of the past 6,000 years, They'd be lucky if they had a decent pair of shoes.

Complete conjecture here mind you. We wouldn't be here at all imo. If Adam and Eve didn't eat of the fruit then the experiment would have proven successful. So you do what any scientist does when an experiment is complete. You record the results, euthanize/incinerate any remaining test subjects, sanitize equipment/test area and prep for the next experiment.

Assuming no one touches the fruit, and it's not just Adam and Eve abstaining:

In the resulting universe, everyone's a Taoist Sage.

Adam and Eve would still be in the Garden of Eden. Naked. No children. Same ol same ol for thousands of years. I would think they would get bored.

An experiment you say. Hmmm. The experiment fails so you populate the planet with struggling and suffering souls. Nice guy, this god of Abraham.

And this was god's plan from the outset, that A&E be bored for thousands leading nonproductive lives; just eating and pooping.

But perhaps you're right, after all it's no skin off his nose.

Eating yes, pooping probably not.

You hit the nail on the head that their lives would be nonproductive. This is why God intended that they eat and fall. He wanted them and us in a productive and challenging environment of personal growth. And here we are.

I could explain in great detail what Mormons believe about the Fall. The Book of Mormon has profound teachings on this which define to a great extent what makes Mormon's tick in their view of God, our relationship to him, the purpose of life, all intertwined with the story of the creation and the fall. But I don't think you care. :)

IMO, there was no fall. They did exactly as they were supposed to. However, for purposes of this thread, if A&E didn't leave Eden, then nothing would have been invented, discovered, or made by humankind.

Since the knowledge of "good and evil" is dependent on a certain level of intellectual functioning, the answer is that we'd still be lower animals acting out of instinct.

I assume then that both of you feel the fall has been good for mankind. Let's hear it for disobedience to god!
.
I answered your hypothetical question with a hypothetical answer. I said nothing about believing in a "fall". Because to me if someone does not understand the duality of "good" and "evil", they don't have intellectual capability. The intellect to me is in no way a "fall" from a prior state.

So what do you think happened to all the undigestables?

Nice ploy then to make them feel ashamed of their nakedness and what they had done.

Yeah, but that would probably amount to proselytizing. A no-no here.

As I just mentioned to Scott C. Nice ploy then to make them feel ashamed of their nakedness and what they had done. Although it's pretty much in keeping with a god who creates evil.

lol.

In gnosis, the creator (god) is an ignorant god. Had to ask where Adam was. Then asks if he ate of the tree. Yet knows the number of hairs on our heads and whats in our hearts.

Somethings amiss.

The true God giving knowledge for Adam to realize his dumb *** was naked let him rise above the animals, IMO.
