It's good to see but are they ready to fight themselves? It seems the answer is yes.Learned some Russian yesterday. Written on a woman’s handbag, on the Moscow Metro;

Means “no war”
I noticed that the russians have been very careful to NOT knock out the power grid, telecommunications, and even the internet...and are even letting civilians drive through contested areas to go about their business...

perhaps, but 190,000 military are not sufficient to occupy of 40+ million people as large as it is geographically...especially one where the general populace seems set on resisting that occupation...That might be because they intend to occupy the country.

Right, and historically the cities are what need to be occupied and are vastly more dangerous for an occupying force.perhaps, but 190,000 military are not sufficient to occupy of 40+ million people as large as it is geographically...especially one where the general populace seems set on resisting that occupation...
Agree, a lot of eyes are facing Russia at the moment and if they go nuts, it will spread all over the world and they won't be able to hide the truth from the Russians either, this whole operation that he have going on still seem extremely reckless to me and very poorly planned in regards to how they actually are going to handle such invasion. And there are what 2.8 million people living in Kiev? and I assume a lot of civilian have taken up arms as well, probably not extremely funny for the average Russian soldier to go around shooting or bombing them. They also have to be able to look themselves in the eyes afterwards I guess.Public relations is particularly important when one does controversial stuff.
May also be good for the morale of the Russian army itself to make themselves feel they try their best to be reasonable human beings.
From a more cynical perspective, they can use this as leverage against the Ukrainians when they put up too much of a fight.
Of course the Vichy French controlled southern France which helped Germany quite a bit. What is interesting is how the resistance in France and Ukraine were so successful. The one major difference was the different languages being spoken whereas in Russia and Ukraine many speak both languages.I believe there were only about 100,000 Germans occupying France in WW2.
Hopefully it stays that way where the targets are not civilian but military. It's not a guarantee it will last as im sure they are cautious and alert.I noticed that the russians have been very careful to NOT knock out the power grid, telecommunications, and even the internet...and are even letting civilians drive through contested areas to go about their business...
I think the only issue could be a lack of weapons and supplies for the Ukraine people. Biden has asked Congress to approve over 3 billion in aid.Agree, a lot of eyes are facing Russia at the moment and if they go nuts, it will spread all over the world and they won't be able to hide the truth from the Russians either, this whole operation that he have going on still seem extremely reckless to me and very poorly planned in regards to how they actually are going to handle such invasion. I wouldn't be to worried about that, I guess they would like more weapons, but still its not particular difficult to use one and I expect that they probably tried to fire a couple of real bullets and how to reload them, clean them etc. So my guess is that the training is more based on tactics, safety and other stuff, which is more useful than just being able to fire a gun. And again, remember they don't have time to train a proper army here.I think the only issue could be a lack of weapons and supplies for the Ukraine people. What rebellions often did was to strike out against the invaders and steal their supplies. So we aren't there yet. That usually comes with an occupation and supply depots in permeant places. It depends on how well prepared Ukraine was before the invasion and that is unknown to me. I saw some folks training with plywood guns and that made me think they were short on weapons.

I wouldn't disagree with that. Clearly he has a plan with all this, but again what on Earth does he think he can get out of this in the long run. Russians reputation is completely ruined in the eyes of the western world and a lot of other countries that support freedom etc. And still do the Russian plan on moving tanks in the Kiev and start shooting or send in foot soldiers and shoot and bomb civilians? It doesn't exactly look like Kiev is anywhere near surrendering. And lots of weapons are being send to Ukraine, just read that Germany will now send 500 stinger missiles and 1000 anti tank weapons, then you have the UK, France and Holland are also giving them stinger missiles and obvious the US will give them stuff as well. Apparently stinger missiles are extremely easy to use, if you listen to experts. He also has to explain the dead Russians at some point as well, and again even if manage to get a new government established, I don't really think the Ukrainian are going to attempt it.I largely agree, though I'm not sure this isn't carefully planned, even though he may mess up.
I think he's had his eyes fixed on Ukraine for a long time.
As an ex-KGB he also has had some first hand experience on how to influence politics from behind the screens.
