Actually he wrote that he would not do that, but he made a good point about stupid laws and those that pass them.

This is in response to the North Carolina law that people have to use restrooms based on their birth gender.

I just... roll my eyes at the hilarity of conservatism. I don't honestly see how it can survive with all the medical advancements we're making, people can choose their child's gender now.

Sadly, laws like that aren't uncommon. They're even trying to pass something similar in Indiana, a law that if passed would make it a misdemeanor for a public school student to use the restroom, locker room, or other such place of their identified and presented as sex.
Transsexuals have made tremendous progress, but we're still pretty much societies punching bags, especially politically, where we're very frequently compared to sexual predators.

Gotta love the human race, eh?
Better than what it would have been 500 years ago, sad that we had to make progress that slowly.
In an adult world, with adults who use intelligence, this would never rise as an issue.

Know what would fix this? How to change this with one generation?
Improving and redesigning the education system.

How could that law even be enforced? "Show me your genitals before using the restroom!" No that's ridiculous. This law is doing nobody any good, including its supporters, it just makes trans people feel uncomfortable and its creators can't enforce it.

It has spotty enforcement, but it has been enforced (New York several years ago is the last time I can recall it actually being enforced).

Restroom attendants can't be enforced on all restrooms, they have to have rules to ensure you donøt ahave a problem with anyone going into any restroom tc. itøs just unfortunate, but i dont think they can just allow anyone into the restrooms,

The law can get so complicated.
Look who might share a restroom with your husband.....
th

Lawmakers themselves appear to pose more troublesome restroom drama than transfolk.

People with a high conventionalism indices seem to panic at anything novel. They really should seek help.

It wasn't that long ago when people were up in arms over having to share a toilet, a waiting room or a classroom with 'negroes.'
Glad that's passed...

Improving and redesigning the education system is something drastically required. However, I think the amount of social engineering included in the curriculum is part of the problem, not part of the solution.
Just my take, obviously.

The way we could fix issues like this with education is by addressing the situations before they learn about them from society or their parents.
Not by telling them what to think, by giving them something more to think about.
By doing that at a young age they become more able to think on their own with issues like these, and wont rely on others who may be bigoted.

If your aim is to teach critical thinking skills, rather than more specific 'good things', then I'm on board. Makes sense to me.

But like others have pointed out, how are people going to even know who is and isn't trans?
