Looking at the bright side of Islam

Okay for reasons I have yet to understand this isn't suppose to be in the Muslim DIR. I don't know why because it is to invoke positive thoughts about Islam and wasn't to be a debate. I hope it is okay here.

As you all know, I believe there is a dark side of Islam. But there is a bright side and this thread is to focus on that. On various days I will post something beautiful or wise in the Koran.

"A repeated theme concerns those who love the world.

When love is a negative word:
14:3 Those who love [istahib] the life of this world more than the Hereafter, who hinder (men) from the Path of Allah and seek therein something crooked: They are astray by a long distance.
16:107 This because they love [istahib] the life of this world better than the Hereafter: And Allah will not guide those who reject Faith.

75:20 Nay, (ye men!) But ye love [hubb] the fleeting life,

76:27 As to these, they love [hubb] the fleeting life, and put away behind them a Day (that will be) hard.

89:20 And ye love [hubb] wealth with inordinate love!

100:8 And violent is he in his love [hubb n.] of wealth.

The above theme is more fully defined in Surah 3:14

3:14 Fair in the eyes of men is the love [hubb] of things they covet: Women and sons; heaped-up hoards of gold and silver; horses branded (for blood and excellence); and (wealth of) cattle and well-tilled land. Such are the possessions of this world's life; but in nearness to Allah is the best of the goals (to return to).
This emphasis on the love of things is further defined in Surah 3:92

3:92 By no means shall ye attain righteousness unless ye give (freely) of that which ye love; [hubb] and whatever ye give, of a truth Allah knoweth it well.

So those verses in the Koran are beautiful and urge people to share their wealth and not be attached to desire for fortune and fame.

Shall I not tell you about the companions of Paradise? They are every humble person considered weak, but if they gave an oath by Allah it would be fulfilled. Shall I not tell you about the companions of Hellfire? They are every harsh, haughty, and arrogant person.

The servants of the Most Merciful are those who walk upon the earth in humility, and when the ignorant address them, they say words of peace.
Surah Al-Furqan 25:63
Humility in the Quran and Sunnah | Faith in Allah الإيمان بالله"

I think those verses in the Koran are awesome. There is more :) coming soon

Are you feeling well?

This obsession is troubling.
Oh...im interested in your Religion and Im quoting passages that I like in the Quran and that troubles you.

Are you feeling well?

Im trying to see the beauty in Islam. If this thread troubles a muslim, maybe they need a dose of common sense.

Again you misunderstand deliberately and then being insulting.

It isn't you trying to see beauty in Islam that troubles people, it is YOU posting it that was being questioned. Common sense would say that someone who has posted many anti-Islam threads may not be sincere in looking at the positive and indeed may have some sort of obsession with the religion that is at best unhealthy and at worst harmful.

When you poison the well then expect people to drink, the one lacking common sense isn't the one walking away from the cup.

What a verse of non-sense. It simply subtly reinforces the idea that there is only one path to a good life ie through the guru Mohammad, what an absolute fallacy this concept is, there are millions of ways.

Only those that have faith (believe in fairies) will go to heaven and Paradise (a figment of the imagination) at the exclusion of those who do not believe in fantasy instead appreciating the real world and its natural beauty. I would hope my children are never exposed to such nonsense.

"Hindered from the path" Does that mean having a logical discussion of the nature of biology? I agree generally people should not be hindered and can quite legitimately remain in glorious ignorant bliss if they so desire, but it says little for their wisdom.

Greed and violence are disdained in almost all existing social systems. However to paint all non religious people with the greed and covet brush is simply insulting.

I would also have said the Path to Allah is more crooked not the reverse.

This is exactly the type of ambiguous verse that those like ISIL use.
If you do not have "THE FAITH" then you must be hindering "GOOD MOSLEMS" you are therefore an infidel and must be executed.

Cheers

Actually, I try to see the good in Islam. I used to wash my feet and face, wear a kufi, and pray with muslims in a mosque in New York. I like Muslims (that aren't bloodthirsty) and I like some of the Koran and 4 1/2 pillars of Islam. I just loathe sharia law, the atrocities of Muhammad, and the enourmous amounts of bloodshed and jihad in the past 60 years all over the world.

Currently Jihad has been declared against the country I live in and according to Islamic law I should be dead right now. Hence, my obsession with Islam. With more than one sixth of the world being Muslim, and me being outspoken, I assume I will be martyred by Islamic extremists for stating the facts about Muhammad. He was a mass murderer. Pure and simple historical fact that im willing to die declaring.

One sixth of the world speaks about an adolf hitler figure (who flies a different banner and policies) as if he was an amazing role model and prophet of God and pardon me for recognizing the threat.

No what Im saying is beautiful about it is the emphasis on detaching oneself from temporary desires that don't satisfy and being happy and free of desire.

on paradise:

"Say: Shall I give you glad tidings of things Far better than those? For the righteous are Gardens in nearness to their Lord... and the good pleasure of Allah. For in Allah's sight are (all) His servants" (3:15).
"Allah will say: This is a day in which the truthful will profit from their truth. Theirs are gardens, with rivers flowing beneath - their eternal Home. Allah is well-pleased with them, and they with Allah. That is the great salvation" (5:119).

"Gardens of perpetual bliss: they shall enter there, as well as the righteous among their fathers, their spouses, and their offspring. Angels shall enter from every gate (with the salutation): 'Peace be with you, that you persevered in patience! Now how excellent is the final home!" (Quran 13:23-24).
“They will not hear therein ill speech or commission of sin. But only the saying of: 'Peace! Peace!'" (Quran 56:25-26).
"But give glad tidings to those who believe and work righteousness, that their portion is gardens, beneath which rivers flow" (2:25).

"Be quick in the race for forgiveness from your Lord, and for a garden whose width is that (of the whole) of the heavens and of the earth, prepared for the righteous" (3:133)
"Allah hath promised to Believers, men and women, gardens under which rivers flow, to dwell therein, and beautiful mansions in gardens of everlasting bliss. But the greatest bliss is the good pleasure of Allah. That is the supreme felicity" (9:72).

"They will recline (with ease) on Thrones (of dignity) arranged in ranks..." (52:20).
"They and their associates will be in groves of (cool) shade, reclining on Thrones (of dignity). Every fruit (enjoyment) will be there for them; they shall have whatever they call for" (36:56-57).

"In a lofty Paradise, where they shall neither hear harmful speech nor falsehood. Therein will be a running spring. Therein will be thrones raised high, and cups set at hand. And cushions set in rows, and rich carpets (all) spread out" (88:10-16).

"... Every time they are fed with fruits therefrom, they say: 'Why, this is what we were fed before,' for they are given things in similitude..." (2:25).
"Therein you shall have (all) that your inner‑selves desire, and therein you shall have all for which you ask. An entertainment from Allah, the Oft‑Forgiving, Most Merciful” (41:31-32).
“Eat and drink at ease for that which you have sent forth (good deeds) in days past!” (69:24).
“... rivers of water incorruptible; rivers of milk of which the taste never changes...” (Quran 47:15).

How Is Heaven (Jannah) Described in the Quran?

They will not urinate, relieve nature, spit, or have any nasal secretions. Their combs will be of gold, and their sweat will smell like musk. The aloes-wood will be used in their censers. Their wives will be houris. All of them will look alike and will resemble their father Adam (in stature), sixty cubits tall.

With certain exceptions (I believe the Muslim DIRs are not among them), DIRs are to represent the consensus of their host faiths.

Reminding people of the positive traits of specific faiths is a good thing, but not to be done in those faiths' DIRs unless you are a member yourself.

Are you clear on the difference between the Debate Areas, the DIRs and the Discussion areas? It seems to me that your intent here is not fit for any DIR, but might perhaps be more suited to a Discussion area than to a Debate one.

Personally, I am not sympathetic to afterlife concerns. They are much too speculative even in the best of circunstances and much too suitable to oppresive actions, as I have learned far too well for confort.

I do appreciate the beauty of the language, but I wish the verses were a bit wiser.

Also, maybe it is a translation matter, but what is one to understand from a clam that "God will not guide those who reject Faith?"

Is it even possible to reject Faith? And if it is, how would that be a bad thing exactly?

The above theme is more fully defined in Surah 3:14

3:14 Fair in the eyes of men is the love [hubb] of things they covet: Women and sons; heaped-up hoards of gold and silver; horses branded (for blood and excellence); and (wealth of) cattle and well-tilled land. A possible interpretation, I suppose. I wish the meaning of those verses, whichever it is meant to be, came across is a less ambiguous manner.

I think I am now.

I thought that as long as I said positive things about Islam I could post in the Muslim DIR. I thought wrong and I accept correction. Thank you sir!

I agree I like daydreaming too, some of my best inventions have come from periods of rest and contemplation. However when I open my eyes and see the marvelous beauty around me I ask what more could I want? I have no need of Paradise I am already there, we call it Australia. I have no need of gold or thrones these are for hedonists, and I like 4 changing seasons and challenges. Do you have suduko in Paradise? Does paradise have an wifi connection? I think I would become bored very quickly in your Paradise. Just give me my home and children and I am there already.

Cheers

Not quite as troubling as more than a billion people in the world in love with the serial killer that founded their Religion

I don't think it is troubling from Matthew's side - he is quite frank to tell that he has found dark and bright sides in Islam , what is wrong with that ?

We Muslims messed up the whole Islam and terrorizing the whole world - there is nothing wrong if somebody raises his eyebrows on it ....

I would not like gold combs. They will be heavy and scratch the skin of my head. Will plastic combs be available? And how many wives does Allah permit in Jannah? I think four would do for me and not 72. What is the advantage if all of them look alike? Clones? I would prefer some difference. Sixty cubits is a little too much. If grandpa Adam was of that stature why I too must be so tall. Not even Mohammad (PUBH) was of that stature. I see no particular advantage in this general enlargement. Why should Allah prefer that?

lol

You're funny :D

You call me troubling. Well, do you know what the founder of Islam did? He killed a lot more people than any recorded serial killer in America. And you call me troubled. What a ridiculous thing to say.

Yes, I have seen on footage many good people getting their heads cut off and smashed with rocks and bricks for violating sharia law and I know that is going on regularly somewhere in the Islamic world and it greatly angers me.

If you think such things are okay, please remind me to not be your friend.

No actually you don't know what you are talking about. There are obvious atrocities that are justified in Islam and anyone who has what you call "Compassion" and "empathy" would be very upset at what is happening to innocent people as a result of the dark side of this Religion and the form of Government and violent and cruel example and policies of it's founder.

However, there is a bright side to the Religion as well. There is nothing disturbing about me trying to see it. That is actually the mature thing to do for the sake of balance.
