“There is nothing like looking, if you want to find something... You certainly usually find something, if you look, but it is not always quite the something you were after.” -Thorin Oakenshield, The Hobbit

There is something to this. We often tend to find surprising things when we aren't looking for them specifically.

I once found a cave in a hillside behind a Ranch on the outskirts of Las Vegas while going for a hike. It's was the quietest and darkest place I've gone in. Wonderful stuff.

What is something you have found in your life, when originally looking for something else or nothing at all?

Be it an object, a place, or an event, really anything goes here. :)

I was looking to get a BA and found a husband.

I droped my keys on a bus, shuffling around trying to find them i found a wallet with over £3000 in £50 notes. No way was i handing it to the bus driver so i got off the bus a stop early and took it to the police station where i was treated like I'd stolen it. Eventually i left with a receipt and headed home.
I never heard about it again, the 10% reward would have been great for a struggling student but... c'est la vie.

Funny...I once lost a wallet with over £3000 in £50 notes in it...no one ever contacted me about finding it...
