Love of Inequality

Why do we like inequality so much? Absolutely, love it.

What I mean by this, is look at how we love to keep up with rich personas like the Kardashians, Actors/Actresses, Politicians, or the British Royal family. Consistently idolizing people such as the Bezos', Oprah's, and Musk's of the world.

While being infatuated with the mythology of the "rags to riches" stories we so often here about.

This isn't unique to any one society or even anyone time period, it is present from the Pharaohs of Egypt, to Aztec Kings.

I think people like power, and they like to fantasize that they are a part of the group that has power. So, while you can't be a Kardashian, you can "participate" by watching them on TV and buying their merchandise. That's my take.

The poor generally don't inspire envy.
And their antics are less interesting.

Don't blame me...I don't make the rules.

I don't know. I've met some poor people with some pretty interesting antics.

It just wasn't televised, so most people weren't aware of all the fun they were missing.
They're only generally less interesting.
For example, I recently posted about an ex-worker
of mine who paid an under-age prostitute with a
credit card. Dumb, eh. It gets dumber.
She defrauded him. Then he reported her to the
cops, so they investigated him, & found child porn
on his computer.
Now, that is interesting. But hardly a basis for a
continual coverage, like a royal or Kardashian.

I guess I haven't ever found the royals or Kardashians interesting, so its possible I'm biased.

Though, we do have shows about the 'interesting poor', too... I'm not up to date with TV, but back when I worked, there was a TV always on, and I remember the shows Wife Swap, Hoarders, and Strange Addictions(perhaps not the actual title on that last one) were all about interesting poor or middle class individuals. I'm sure they could have made long term reality shows out of quite a few of the more colorful cases.

Though, sometimes, you have to wonder... if your ex worker was that dumb in this regard, what other dumb things did he do that were unrecorded that could be found of 'interest'(though in that particular instance, I'd be afraid to find out).

I think some of the rich folks that the cameras follow fan some of those flames themselves(the royals, perhaps, excepted). Poor people don't always have as much time to fan flames, because they're off doing something else.

I watched Sanford & Son.
That was a documentary, right?

He might've been worth a half hour of TV, but that's it.
Oh, the stories....what I told you was the tip'o the iceberg.

Yeah, there's a dude that lives down the way from me in a beat up trailer. Old hippie, musician... has tons of interesting opinions and stories about his life. If he had multiple strokes and could barely speak or move, I bet he'd STILL be more interesting than all the Kardashians COMBINED.
