Excerpted....
Former Mesa County, Colorado, clerk Tina Peters was sentenced to nine years in prison for leading a security breach of the county's election system after being inspired by false and baseless claims of voting fraud.

Peters, a Republican, was convicted for giving an individual affiliated with MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell, an ally of former President Donald Trump, access to the election software she used for her county. Screenshots of the software appeared on right-wing websites.

She was found guilty on most of the charges related to election tampering and misconduct.

"Your lies are well documented, and these convictions are serious," District Judge Matthews Barrett said. "I'm convinced you would do it all over again if you could. You're as defiant as a defendant as this Court has never seen."

"There are many things in my mind that are crystal clear about this case, you are no hero," Barrett added. "You abused your position, and you're a charlatan who used and is still using your prior position in office to peddle a snake oil that's been proven to be junk, time and time again."

Barrett called the damage done by Peters to undermine the integrity of elections "immeasurable."

Before being sentenced, Peters took the stand to ask for probation, and told the judge she "never did anything with malice" and believed she was serving the people in Mesa County.

Nine years seems to be very harsh, especially as I see her as a victim as much as a perpetrator.
She is just too naïve and gullible for the job, maybe even delusional. She might as well suffer from a mental condition that would make her more fit for a mental institution than prison. (And no, Trump derangement syndrome is not an established mental condition, but cult members have been deemed to be not responsible because of their delusions.)
Has she been psychologically evaluated?
Those who used her should be held responsible just as much as she is.

I don't know how German judges are, but American judges don't tolerate back talk. When he said she's as defiant a defendant whos been in that court I suspect she may have gave him some verbal or nonverbal back talk.
He seems it may be possible it was wasting time and absurdly stupid, giving his pointing out she was doing after being disproven, something else America.
So the nine years may have been fueled by such things. It's abysmal that judges can get personal like that amd turn justice into an abusive demand for respect, but I've seen it time and time myself a judge add on time because defendants rolled their eyes.

Compare her with Trump. His crimes are more numerous
& far far more severe. Yet he remains free. The little people
always pay more dearly. But her sentence is appropriate
because otherwise, Trump's apparatchiks would see little
risk in over-throwing government for him. Trump can't
be reigned in, but his minions can be.

You know what's weird? There are a lot of people on these forums on the right who seem to express a lot of totally genuine concern about election interference and fraud, and I haven't seen a single one of them comment celebrating this arrest and conviction.

So weird.
but not surprising

Twilight Hue

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.
So far, all the significant election fraud has
been committed by Magas. Ironic, eh.
Yea. Very ironic.

Ironic some people just can't recognize that ' significant ' is a relative term here. Eh?

From the article:
"Myers, 79, pleaded guilty in June to conspiracy to deprive voters of civil rights, bribery, obstruction of justice, falsification of voting records, and conspiring to illegally vote in a federal election as part of scams to stuff ballot boxes for certain Democratic candidates in Pennsylvania elections between 2014 and 2018, the DOJ said in a news release.
Prosecutors said some of the candidates were running to be judges and had hired Myers, who would use portions of “consulting fees” from his clients to pay others to interfere with election results."

So, not in 2020 and not in any presidential election.

From the article:
"The district attorney’s press release detailed that Rahman is accused of casting 20 ballots in August 2022. Prosecutors said he had applied to collect 118 ballots for voters in the area, and gained approval for 32 of the 118 ballot applications."

So, not in 2020 and not in any presidential election.

From the article:
"Four people involved with a mayoral contest in Connecticut's largest city were charged Tuesday for allegedly misusing absentee ballots.
The state charges stem from the 2019 Democratic primary in Bridgeport — and are separate from allegations of misconduct in the 2023 mayoral contest in the city, which led to a judge ordering a unique do-over primary."

So, not in 2020 and not in any presidential election.

Ironic some people just can't recognize that ' significant ' is a relative term here. Eh?
Gee, it's almost as if they included the word "significant" for a reason. And maybe that reason was so that people wouldn't be dumb enough to mistake their statement for implying there aren't minor cases of voter fraud on all sides and thus falsely equate instances of minor voter fraud with the major one that is the subject of this thread. Or to equate minor, prosecuted instances of attempted fraud in various, non-presidential election with the MASSIVE VOTER FRAUD that is alleged to have happened in favour of the democrats in the 2020 presidential election, despite all evidence to the contrary, by many Republicans. Y'know, the election with a lot of proven massive voter fraud being committed by Republcians.

Now, do you have any comments on this proven case of MASSIVE ATTEMPTED VOTER FRAUD committed by a TRUMP-SUPPORTING REPUBLICAN in the 2020 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION?

What a buffoon!
That wasn't from the 2020 election.
It was a 2022 Dem primary.

I would not call the tampering in an election where there was a do-over and a repeat of the results with cheating as significant as an attempt to cheat and change who won the Presidency. I will still be very happy if those people are found guilty as well, but if one scaled their punishment based upon how many people would likely to have been affected their term in jail would be measured in days rather than in years.

No one has ever said that no Democrats cheated anywhere. It is just that the amount of Democrat cheating pales to insignificance when compared to the cheating attempted by the Republicans.

Talk to the ones who think Republicans are exclusive to this.
Remind me again who pushed Georgia officials to "find" more votes for Trump?
Who created fake electors?
Who demanded the vice president commit treason and change the outcome of the election?
Who tried to have the votes from 5 separate states discarded?

Oh look, same district. But Republican fraud.
