yeah. This is impressive (that was sarcasm) after giving an text book definition of socialism McKay goes on to say "That’s pretty much what Marx and Engels came up with in the 19th century." Well yes , s its origins in the Age of Enlightenment , in France where on one side of parliament social reformers sat on the ' left.' Now along with the its precedents in earlier movements along with Hegelian dialectics, inequities of the new industrial revolution etc. I am not here to get into a long protracted historical philosophical discussion, other than to say it was all encapsulated in The Communist Manifesto in 1848 Marx and Engels at the time of revolutions of the time.

'Democratic socialism' is socialism light, derived somewhat from the old Fabian socialism. My 'conservativism ' is not the Republican party, but the Constitution, principles of LIMITED government, free enterprise, etc. all statism goes against such principles. statism, 'democratic socialism' values equality more than liberty, a foundational principle the left could care less about. .America was founded to be separate from Europe where such cancerous statism is growing, Europe raised a generation that does not value liberty as much America is moving in that direction.

Milton Friedman was wrong a lot. Like his claim capitalism and democracy are different sides of the same coin amd his absurd belief thaglt buying things is a more pure democracy than voting in a free and fair election. He also has a tragically misanthropic and suspicious view of others, thinking there is inherent greed in all of us.
