Magic or Technology?

Hello!
Since coming into Luciferianism, I have seen lots of mention of magic. Honestly, why is there so much mention on magic?

What are the real purposes of practicing magic? I mean, if one was to use magic to enhance themselves or their surroundings, why not just use technology to do so?

We live in a technologically advanced world, but why is there such a throw back to magic?

Hello and welcome. As Iti said we don't have many Luciferians around right now, but you're more than welcome to join us in the LHP main dir. We've had recently lots of posts about magic too, so you might find some good thoughts from reading through the threads.

In short, the majority os uf don't see magic(k) as something supernatural, but as a way to affect our own or someone else's psyche (I like calling it the subjective universe) more into our own liking. The difference between magic(k) and technology is that the other one works solely on the mind, making it possible to affect it in ways that are usually hard to do otherwise. Then again not all of us are big fans of it either. You'll find quite a variety of opinions here. ;)

I do not think we have many if any who think or practice magic as such. Its more psychological. Symbolism and about self empowerment.

You can either make a new thread or request the staff to move it. I`ll notify them for you. what makes you lhp/luciferian? Atheist of theist. Tell me more about you and your path

Well, let's start off in the beginning. I was never very theistic to begin with. At best, one could describe me as a mild Deist. It might sound a bit cliché, but George Carlin first introduced me to Atheism.

Looking back now, it probably was not the best source to start out with, :) because I jumped right into the militant side of Atheism.

After listening to Dawkins and Hitchens, I calmed down a bit.

What appealed to me about Luciferianism, is the deep sense of Individuality, that I had grown accustomed to as an Atheist.

But then I began to think, as I usually do. :) I looked at the story of Genesis and I began to see that the Snake wanted Eve and Adam to gain knowledge by eating from the tree of knowledge. But God wanted to keep Adam and Eve in ignorance, to serve Him forever. I saw that Lucifer, as the snake, wanted Knowledge and God wanted Ignorance and since God 'won the war' He gets to write it as He wishes.

But still as an Atheist, I could not believe in an actual Lucifer. So everything became a symbol, Lucifer a symbol for Knowledge and God a symbol for Ignorance.

And that is basically where I am today :)

And on a side note, I will probably just repost this thread on the Main Left-Hand Path DIR

Magic and technology can go hand in hand. I know of a good number of magicians who use black lights, Tesla coils, etc. in their rituals for atmosphere and in establishing what is called the Magical Link. Some call them "ritual chambers" others call them "mad labs".

The purpose of magick is to cause change. Technology is magick, it aids in the practice depending on what you are doing. It is a psychological practice of causing change in our own subjective realities, very real change. We all do it almost all the time, it just usually is on a small level and goes unrecognized, such as you making that first post.

Magical Link? So, they use technology and magic to make the atmosphere, thus allowing them to connect to what they are doing?

Alright, I think I am beginning to see. I believe I require more research and to overcome a preconceived notion of what magic is...

That's how it usually is. There is an idea of magick that is beaten into our head by our more Christianized societies. Sadly it is highly misunderstood. If we actually dedicated resources to studying magick we could make it infinitely more potent, not to mention probably obliterate the idea of prayer at the same time haha.

The so called Magical Link is the overlaping link which is established between the objective universe and one's personal subjective universe and other subjective universes during ritual magic. And absolutely correct is the answer to your second question. :D Using Magic and technology together is the focus of groups such as "The Occult Institute of Technology" and "The Order of the Trapezoid". I'm sure you can google them and find out a lot of information about them as well as links to their websites.
