Majors and Careers

What did you major in in college? Or, for those of us still in college, what are you majoring in? For those of you out of college--what is your career? For those of you still in college--what kind of career do you plan on pursuing?

I am struggling with these questions myself. I am certain that whatever I major in, I want to go on to graduate school and become a professor/researcher in that field. The only problem is I don't know what field to go into....philosophy? Physics (perhaps with an emphasis on cosmology and space physics)? Neuroscience?

I like natural sciences because I value knowledge, but I also value philosophy because I like to be able to express myself...I'm leaning towards physics. Anyone got any advice/suggestions for me as I prepare to declare a major and plan for a future career?

My major is Religion, what I'm going to do with that, I haven't a clue. Teach maybe, I dunno. The 'career' I've always wanted though, if you can call it that, is to own a bookstore.

As for what you should major in, my advice is to be open to change. Just because you're interested in something now, you may not be in a year or so. It's OK to change your mind and major. Go where your heart tells you.

I am not in college yet, but I have known what I wanted to do since I was nine. I want to be a biologist/zoologist/naturalist, specializing in areas of non-human behavior and intelligence. I want to work with some of the most intelligent creatures. African Greys, Chimpanzees, Bonobos, Dolphins...

I'd like to be the next Jane Goodall. Maybe I could even create the communication link to dolphins! :jam:

My current major is in Computer Science which is working in tandem with my current career as a computer programmer. As soon as I complete my Bachelors Degree I'll be switching career fields to a Communications Officer. Along with this I'll start to focus on another degree in Political Science. That's the plan at least.

I want to major in Illustration, and possibly minor in Religion (if the school has a good program for it).
