With that amount of weaponry, it seems he probably had fantasies of starting a war (in my opinion). Who knows how many more nutters like him are out there, locked and loaded like crazy.

Well he wasn't trying to shoot and assassinate Trump. ;0)

Yea. It's still good advice not to shoot up the opposition, however every party (obviously) has its own fringe lunatics which is why politicians need to take seriously a degree of decorum, as to not trigger off these emotionally fragile people who feel the strong compulsion to take matters in their own hands as if they are a one man army.

It is a sure sign that we are digressing not progressing as a nation in regards to all the political violence of late. Best suited for banana republics.

Unfortunately that's how the way the world works sometimes. The barrel of a weapon should always be used as last resort, and only in actual dire circumstances.

Not America. But it seems likely that the far right is fueling the anger and hatred towards democrats and any other “enemy” that is defined by their rhetoric. I do worry that many of these Jan 6 types will conduct violence if Trump loses, and can be worse if Trump makes more inflammatory claims.

I’m sure our intelligence agencies are keeping tabs on far right rhetoric and activity and preparing accordingly. Given the high level of Trump support this cycle I think it’s likely there will be violence.

120 guns is quite a lot! But still, we are presumed innocent until proven guilty.

I don't think Ryan Routh was a conservative. And actually the jury is out about Thomas Crooks for that matter.

I guess one can only hope that sanity will be restored to the US political landscape eventually. Its not looking good in the short term though in my view. Hopefully after Nov 5th things begin to cool, although US police should definitely be hoping for the best while preparing for the worst in my opinion
