In John 14:15, Jesus says "If you love me, obey my commandments." Jesus did not give us the ten commandments, if that's what you were referring to. Jesus preached forgiveness of sin.
There are so many rules and supposed laws in the bible.
Here are just a few:
People pay the Lord a ransom-Exodus 30:11 (certainly not God's rule, sounds more like a religious invention to me so the priests can get rich)
Certain incense is reserved for the Lord-Exodus 31:38
Obey the sabath or die-Exodus 35:2
Animal sacrifice blood sprinkled on the altar-Leviticus 7:2
Never drink wine before going to the tabernacle-Leviticus 10:6
Do not touch snakes-Leviticus 12:43
Those with skin disease are supposed to tear their clothing and allow their hair to hang loose-Leviticus 14:45
I know the above rules are not those that you question about but my point is this: the bible is extremely old. It's intent was to give some ground rules to humans who lived thousands of years ago, humans who were by today's standards, ignorant.
If a person today still needs the ten commandments to know that it's not okay to sleep with another man's wife then honestly that person is spiritually equal to someone 2000 years ago.
It's time to evolve. It really, really is.
