Marilyn Manson!

Do you like any Marilyn Manson songs? Why? Which ones? What are the lyrics?

I like a few. Specifically, "The Beautiful People", "The Dope Show", "I Don't Like the Drugs but the Drugs Like Me", and "Redeemer".

People have given Manson a pretty bad time over the years. He's not a Satanist or Luciferist (though personally, I don't think it'd matter), nor is he anti-God or anti-religion. He's just anti-organized religion. He raises some important points in some of his songs.

Lyrics to "I Don't Like the Drugs but the Drugs Like Me":

Norm life baby "we're white and oh so hetero and our sex is missionary."
Norm life baby "we're quitters and we're sober our confessions will be televised."

You and I are underdosed and we're ready to fall
Raised to be stupid, taught to be nothing at all

I don't like the drugs but the drugs like me
I don't like the drugs, the drugs, the drugs

Norm life baby "our god is white and unforgiving we're **** tested and we're praying."
Norm life baby "I'm just a sample of a soul made to look just like a human being."

Norm life baby "we're rehabbed and we're ready for our 15 minutes of shame."
Norm life baby "we're talkshown and we're poiting just like christians at a suicide."

You and I are underdosed and we're ready to fall
Raised to be stupid, taught to be nothing at all
I don't like the drugs but the drugs like me
I don't like the drugs, the drugs, the drugs

He's an entertainer, nothing more, nothing less.

I don't know him as a person, so I can't really say much about him.

Manson is a brilliant musician/performance artist (hence my avatar du jour). One of the only true rock stars of the era. In a time when the charts are ruled by empty teen pop and hip hop with no worthwhile lyrical content AND good musicians with zero stage presence, Manson wrecks the curve. Most people can't see this because they (a) judge him by his flamboyant/dark appearance, or (b) aren't smart enough to comprehend what he's talking about.

I like most of his music from Antichrist Superstar to the present. Not a big fan of Portrait of an American Family, or Smells Like Children (save for the covers of "I Put A Spell On You" & "Sweet Dreams"). Favorites? Pretty much anything from "Antichrist", Mechanical Animals", or "Holy Wood".

I'm afraid there are too many good lyrics...can't choose. I love his neologisms, like "celebritarian" or "neurophobic".

I like his older work. I stopped listening when he came out with Mechanical Animals. Antichrist Superstar was definitely his best album, in my opinion.

Call me crazy, but I'm a Portrait of an American Family guy.

"Snake Eyes And Sissies"

wrench is just a household god but I carry mine with pride
I dont' work but I can work with it to split your smile
run you down without a twitch, your car's just not as big as mine
tear the son out of your ***** and sprinkle your remains with lime
I ain't no working man, I do the best I can, I got the devil's hand
my afternoon's remote control
daydream milk and genocide
tranquility with broken knees, silly putty enemies
butter knife in your side
what I got I got for free, middle finger technology
what's yours is mine, yours is mine, told you ****er, yours is mine
snake eyes for sissies
I ain't no working man, I do the best I can, I got the devil's hand
rollin' sixes
I am the habit man, I use up all I can, I got the slacker's hand
I am the pedophile's dream
a messianic peter pan
just a boy, just a boy, just a little ******* boy, I can never be a man
I ain't no working man, I do the best I can, I got the devil's hand
rollin' sixes
I am the habit man, I use up all I can, I got the slacker's hand
I ain't no working man, I do the best I can, I got the devil's hand
I am the habit man, I use up all I can, I got the slacker's hand
(oh no, oh no)

"Misery Machine"

man in the front got a sinister grin, careen down highway 666
we wanna go, crush the slow, as the pitchfork bends the needles grow
my arms are wheels, my legs are wheels, my blood is pavement
we're gonna ride to the abbey of thelema, to the abby of thelema
blood is pavement the grill in the front is my sinister grin,
bugs in my teeth nake me sick sick sick
the objects may be larger than they appear in the mirror
my arms are wheels, my legs are wheels, my blood is pavement
we're gonna ride to the abbey of thelema, to the abby of thelema
blood is pavement
"when you ride you're ridden, when you ride, you're ridden
i am fueled by filth fury
do what i will, i will hurry there, there
my arms are wheels, my legs are wheels, my blood is pavement
blood is pavement
I just like the musical rhythms better than the newer stuff.

I like all these songs as well......even though he criticizes church goers in Beautiful People.

He's quite the intelligent fellow and pleasant as well. I remember the first time I saw an interview with him I was surprised how nice he was. Must just let all his angst out in song.

I don't listen much to Manson these days...

But I love Mechanical Animals. That's my favorite Manson CD.

My two fave Manson songs are Coma White and Last Day on Earth.

And I also like Redeemer off of the Queen of the Damned Soundtrack and Tourniquet, but that song just takes me back to high school.

I think Brian Warner is incredibly unattractive...but I find myself often digging the hair.

And I did enjoy the work he did on the Resident Evil soundtrack. That...I WAS into.

Coma White

There's something cold and blank behind her smile
She's standing on an overpass
In her miracle mile
[coma:]
"You were from a perfect world
A world that threw me away today
Today to run away"

A pill to make you numb
A pill to make you dumb
A pill to make you anybody else
But all the drugs in this world
Won't save her from herself

Her mouth was an empty cut
And she was waiting to fall
Just bleeding like a polaroid that
Lost all her dolls
[coma:]
"You were from a perfect world
A world that threw me away today
Today to run away"

A pill to make you numb
A pill to make you dumb
[chorus repeat]

I like all these songs as well......even though he criticizes church goers in Beautiful People.

He's not criticising them for their beliefs in whatever religion, he's criticising them for automatically accepting whatever an organization (the Church) tells them, without any individual thought.

I like some Manson songs. One of my favorites is "The Beutiful People." I also prefer his version of "Reedemer" over the original version by Jonathan Davis. Not to mention it does sound like something Manson would write.

I like MM quite a bit... enough to have all his stuff but I wouldn't rate him anywhere near my top 10 or anything. My favourite song has got to be Tourniquet just because it is so well written.

My favorite manson song, for real particular reason would have to be:

"The Fight Song"

Nothing suffocates you more than
the passing of everyday human events
Isolation is the oxygen mask you make
your children breath into survive

But I'm not a slave to a god
that doesn't exist
But I'm not a slave to a world
that doesn't give a ****

And when we were good
you just closed you eyes
So when we are bad
we're going to scar your minds

fight, fight, fight, fight

You'll never grow up to be a big-
rock-star-celebrated-victim-of-your-fame
They'll just cut our wrists like
cheap coupons and say that death
was on sale today

And when we were good
you just closed you eyes
So when we are bad
we'll scar your minds

But I'm not a slave to a god
that doesn't exist
But I'm not a slave to a world
that doesn't give a ****

the death of one is a tragedy
the death of one is a tragedy
the death of one is a tragedy
but death of a million is just a statistic

[CHORUS]

fight, fight, fight, fight :guitar1: :drums: :jam:
