I was reading up on Martin Luther King (one of my personal favorite people of all time) and I ran across a site with his name http://www.martinlutherking.org/

It is strange that it has a lot of derogatory comments about him.
The problem with the Internet is that one can post a site with a name of a person with the dot org designation and then post all kinds of things about them and no one will or can say anything about them. Actually that goes for all sites except for those 'hate sites' that the US government will target and take down. So the answer to the question that's not asked in this thread, one has to take into consideration the derogatory comments as a 'tell' that the site is not in the interest of Martin Luther King, Jr. It's someone's idea of enlightening the world to their viewpoint of a dead man who can't defend his reputation, which then falls back on the statement I made previously which is why the Internet has to be taken lightly. It's definitely a jungle out there so watch out!

So tell me, why did you find it cute, or useful, or interesting to further propagate "White Pride" bigotry?

That site is disturbing. Where is all the W.S. garbage coming from on the board?

Infiltrators! Be on guard!

Actually I suspect the supremacist infiltrator will soon slink off with his tail between his legs. People on RF are pretty astute and will challenge him mercilessly.

There is a great deal about MLK that isn`t pretty.
Just as there is a great deal about all of us that isn`t pretty.

Much of what that site says has some truth to it but a better place to get info on less pretty part of MLK would be the Stanford Papers Project.

Here`s a link...or two..

We forget our heroes are mere mortals at times.

What makes Dr. King so inspireing (to me anyway) is his humanity. He wasn't perfect and he doesn't need to be made that way.
Real people can accomplish amazing things!

His real name isn't Martin Luther King. Just an interesting fact.
So what was it?

He was almost minister of my church, btw. Another interesting fact. The church asked him to be the minister ("called" him) and according to Loretta Scott King, they deliberated the offer seriously but finally decided that he wouldn't be able to mobilize an African-American movement from the pulpit of a Unitarian church.

And he was right.

You think I put this up here to promote it?

I think you can see from my posts that I would never support this, if you look at my "heroes" thread:

http://www.religiousforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=6961&highlight=heroes

.....I posted very positive things about him.....he is one of my heroes.

I just found it odd that a site with his name would say negative things.

I share everything I find....even things I don't agree with, and i don't think I should have to say that I am completely against this for those who know me to understand that I am not for it.
