Mary Alice as Oracle

The movie The Matrix had two actresses play the role of the Oracle. Gloria Foster was the original, but after she succumbed to complications due to diabetes, Mary Alice took over the role. The franchise explained the switch in the movie as Kamala and Rama Kandra exchanging the Oracle's termination code for save passage for their daughter, Sati, into the Matrix as an exile.

Personally, I think Gloria Foster better was suited for the role, and ejo;r Mary Alice did a suitable job taking over the role, something about how she played to part never quite sat well with me.

What about you? What are your thoughts. Do you think another actress might have done a better job taking over the role?

I can't watch the Matrix without seeing Elrond every time Smith appears on screen. Nor can I watch the Lord of the Rings without seeing Smith every time Elrond appears on screen.

Gloria all the way. She had a more "down home" motherly air to the character. RIP.

What about you? What are your thoughts. Do you think another actress might have done a better job taking over the role?

I think its hard to tell, but I didn't like them changing the character. I would have preferred an obvious 3D model that looked like Foster, to keep things the same.

I thought she did the role well enough. There wasn't really much else they could do. Maybe another actress might have been better; hard to say. At least they didn't do a Chuck Cunningham and have her disappear completely without explanation.

It's always hard whenever another actor is chosen to replace someone to play the role of a beloved character.

Imagine what would have happened if they replaced Keanu Reeves with Pee Wee Herman in the final installment.

This was also an issue with Winds of War and the sequel War and Remembrance, as many of the main characters had different actors in the sequel.
