Mary's Glorius Assumption

My Mother is present to My Church in this world. Her glorious Assumption has not set her at a distance from My Church; it has, on the contrary, made it possible for her to be wherever the suffering members of My Mystical Body are most in need of her ministrations and of her simple consoling presence. It is My Mother who makes even the darkest nights bright with the radiance of her beauty and, in so doing, she comforts souls who see nought but darkness all about them, and she leads them on securely and in a great inner peace. Souls who look to My Mother as to their star shining

In this world, the one we believe is ‘real’, perhaps more real than what our faith teaches us, is if our faith is true, a very small pond in a reality that is Infinite. Mary shows us the goodwill and the love that God has for us, as well as the reality of grace.

Mary understood her complete dependence on God. Her ‘nothingness’ was her key to greatness in the eyes of God. Like Christ, though of course to a lesser degree, she emptied herself so that her whole being may be filled with the love of God. She put up no barriers, either consciously, or unconsciously. She was of all God’s children the most fully human. She had no need to hate or to look down on others, as well as no need to protect herself from how humans react and treat each other. She was not afraid of pain, or rejection, but in that, because of her inner freedom, she suffered more than any other human being, except Christ Jesus because of her ability to truly love all of her children which were given to her when her Son was dying on the cross.

The saints as well are doing what she does. Having put on the Mind-of-Christ they are also one with all members of the Church, of all humans in the world because Christ died for them. They understand true love, giving themselves as Christ does fully in service for those of us who struggle, stumble and fall, but yet in faith get up again.

In this life, we are called to do as they do but in a lesser degree. For we too are called to put on the Mind-of-Christ and to love, not fearing the suffering that comes with it. We are called to show mercy, just as we have received it, and to forgive over and over again. A truly monumental struggle for me, and perhaps for most human beings. Yet it is grace that allows the heart to expand and heal.Br.MD
