DawudTalut
Peace be upon you.
Peace and mercy of Allah be on you……. Recently, the importance and offering of Salaat was reminded to the Community by Hazrat Khalifatul Messiah V (may Allah be his Helper). Many members, system of Jama'at and auxiliary organizations from many places wrote him there were indeed deficiency, they were regretful, and they shall make programs about it. Huzur (a.t.) prayed may Allah enable all to do so and our mosques really show scenes of population…..The administration should always remember that steadfastness is the condition to develop best results of any any work. In the start, many of us begin a work with lot of zeal, but after some time, laziness begins to develop due to raw-nature of human.
==
The development of laziness among individuals does not bring much dangerous results, though it is quite worrisome too, but the development of laziness in system is very dangerous. If the system for drawing attention of people begins to show lethargy or no interest to its duty, then it become difficult to correct laziness developed due to raw-nature.
==
Auxiliaries and the sytem of Community should make such planning for their work which take them to progess from laziness and weakness - and especially for the task Allah the Exalted has decalred purpose of our Creation [worship]. Our progress in worship brings succeses for us. So, it is very important matter. All system needs to be very serious about it. Women’s auxiliary Lajna Imai'llah should play a role in this too. They should supervise over children’s Salaats in homes and make them habitual to offer Salaats. They should continuously draw attention of men and youth boys of their house to offer their Salaats at the mosque. If ladies play their role, then there can be extraordinary change.
==
Huzur (may Allah be his Helper) said that he wants to correct the mistake of those who say they should not be told and asked about offering Salaats since it is matter between them and God. Some husbands get angry when reminded about Salaat at home…..No doubt it is matter between human and God, but to draw attention and to ask, is the duty of system of Jama'at; likewise it is task of wives rather it is obligation.
If it was only based on desire to offer or not offer Salaat -- [ excuses:we sleep deep at the time of Fajr Salaat, we are tired due to day’s work and sleep soundly at night, thus do not wake up us] – then Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be on him) would not have told wife and husband that whoever awakes early, he/she should awake other for Salaat and if other does not wake, sprinkle water droplets. On some occasions Holy Prophet (s.a.w.) gave stricter warning. In previous Friday sermon (Jan 20) Ahadith were presented. Thus this thought is wrong that we are free in such matter and it is between us and God. The system they are attached to, if it asks for a review of its Jama'at about offering Salaats, then cooperation should be offered, instead of being agitated and getting angry. But it is wrong if person offers Salaats in congregation and boasts before the world about it.
==
The importance of offering Salaats should be clear to everyone and diligent effort should be made to practice it according to directive of Allah the Exalted and His Messenger (peace and blessings of Allah be on him).
==
Some matters mentioned by Hazrat Promised Messiah (on whom be peace) are presented here which are generally related to Fiqah (jurisprudence) or attention of an Ahmadi is drawn to them by him (a.s.) for practice.
By the Fazl of Allah the Exalted, people from various Fiqah join Jama'at Ahmadiyya Muslimah. In certain matters, what they used to practice, Jama'at Ahmadiyya does not practice that way because we have believed in Hazrat Promised Messiah (a.s.) as Hakam [arbitrator: a person to whom the authority to settle or judge a dispute is delagted] and Adal [Just, Upright] thus we have to practice according to what he said and which is proved to be practiced by Holy Prophet (s.a.w.) and his companions (r.a.).
Among these matters, there is issue of Rafa Yadain (raising hands) i.e raising hands to ears at each Takbir of Salaat. These little things made sects upon sects….. Not only it, fights and fatwas of disbief for each other take place. If one offers Janazah Salaat for someone of other sect behind other Salaat-leader, clergies say person’s Nikah / wedlock is expired. These are not of old days stories, these are recent too. In recent news, in India, when people of a sect offered a Janazah Salaat lead by man of other sect, fatwa came that wedlocks of all people were expired, the whole village is doing their Nikahs again. Religion has been made joke and way of mischief.
==
Hazrat Promised Messiah (on whom be peace) came to end all disputes. He said he is Hakam (arbitrator) and Adal (Just) and believe in me. He (a.s.) presented solutions, he permitted things which were of minor differences i.e. both ways were right. Thus about Rafa Yadain, he (a.s.) said: “No harm is evident in it whether one does it or not. In Ahadith, its mention is in both ways……….. It is evident that Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be on him) did Rafa Yadain at some time and then left latter.”
Hazrat Promised Messiah (a.s.) continued the more acted acts of Holy Prophet (s.a.w.). According to [observations and deduction from traditions in Community] Hazrat Sahibzada Mirza Bashir Ahmad [r.a. -- a son of Hazrat Promised Messiah a.s.] he (a.s.) did not do Rafa Yadain, he (a.s.) said Salaat offerers too should recite Sura Al-Fatiha (but not audible) behind the Imam in Salaat, he (a.s.) did not recite ‘bismillah verse’ audible and did not say ‘amin’ audible.
==
Regarding to fold hands while standing during Salaat, Hazrat Promised Messiah (on whom be peace) said he never liked to place folded hands below navel area, his inclination had always been to place them above the area. He said he repeatedly experienced that the search of Ahadith always found his inclinations were right even though he previously did not know it…..At this occasion, then, he (a.s.) asked Hazrat maulvi Nuruddin sahib r.a.[Khalifah I] to check for related Hadith, soon it was found with reference to Hazrat Abu Bakr (r.a.) and Hazrat Umer (r.a.) and there was no debate on it…The Holy Prophet (s.a.w.) more times folded his hands above navel during Salaat.
==
Hazrat Promised Messiah (a.s.) told a person that apparent etiquette are essential to observe but more attention during Salaat should be towards Allah the Exalted .
==
When asked about why index finger is raised in Tashahud of Salaat while sitting, the Hazrat Promised Messiah (on whom be peace) said that, in time of ignorance, people used to raise this while calling bad names. That is why it was called ‘sababa’ i.e. finger for calling bad name. God the Exalted reformed Arab, and remove that bad habit and asked to raise this finger when calling God ‘Wahid’ (The One) and ‘La Sharik’ (No associate) to remove accusation from it. Arabs used to drink sharab five times a day, it is changed with five times of Salaat.
==
Question was asked about reciting verses or prayer of Quran during Ruku and Sujud. Hazrat Promised Messiah (a.s.) said Sajdah and Ruku is time of humbleness and Kalam of God the Exalted requires azmat / greatness. Additionally it is not proven from Ahadith that Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be on him) read any Quranic prayer in Ruku and Sujud.
Hazrat Promised Messiah (a.s.) said a lot of prayer should be done in Salaat. Prayer should be done in own language but whatever is proven through Holy Prophet (s.a.w.) it should be recited in very same words. For example, after reciting ‘subhana rabbeyalazim’ in Ruku and ‘subhana rabbeyal alaa’ in Sajdah, prayer may be done in own language. Quranic prayer should not be done in state of Sajdah and Ruku because Holy Quran is noble Kalam of God the Exalted and has exalted status, and Ruku and Sajdah is state of lowliness, that is why Kalam e Ilahi should be respected.
Someone asked Hazrat Khalifatul Messiah II (r.a.) that why it is not permitted to recite Quranic prayers in Sajdah, since it is state of very humblness (better place for doing prayers for acceptance)? He (r.a.) replied his creed was so too but latter a quote of Hazrat Promised Messiah (a.s.) was found, in which he (a.s.) declared it not-allowed. A Hadith of this subject is found in Musnad Ahmad bin Hanbal…….Though Sajdah is state of extreme humbleness but Quranic prayers should not be read there. Prayer takes a person to downward, Quran takes him upward that is why saying Quranic prayers in the state of Sajdah is not-allowed. When a matter is found from Holy Prophet (s.a.w.) and Hazrat Promised Messiah (a.s.) then it is not right to adopt a way against it even if our wisdom do not get it.
