He is saying He is the Son of man, just as He is the Son of God. These titles for Jesus reveal that He is fully human and fully God.

It looks to me like Jesus referred to Himself repeatedly as the son of man. He might have meant that He represented Israel, like Ezekiel did.

Yes, Jesus is hailing back to prophecy of the "Son of man" like as in Daniel 7:13.

Son of god: doing the will of God (subordinate)
Son of man: being a sacrifice for man; be at "man's mercy" as a sacrifice for man's sins.
Son meaning the station one is in relation to his or her authority or subordinate to an idea or concept more important or more authority than self.
In christ case, lowing himself as a son of man in order to take on sins and be man's sacrifice to his father.
It's an idiom

Uh, keep in mind that Jesus likely spoke Aramaic, and later someone recorded it in Greek, and then Latin and who knows what the further iterations were?
