Matthew 16:28

Truly, I say to you, there are some standing here who will not taste death until they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom.

I’m not Christian and I’m not Jesus but many will be living the day I die.

The term till (until) after checking out the Greek definition has me understanding this passage a little differently.

Strong's Concordance
whatsoever, wheresoever, whosoever.
A primary particle, denoting a supposition, wish, possibility or uncertainty -- (what-, where-, wither-, who-)soever. Usually unexpressed except by the subjunctive or potential mood. Also contracted for ean.

see GREEK ean

Thayer's Greek Lexicon
STRONGS NT 302: ἄν (1)

ἄν (1), a particle indicating that something can or could occur on certain conditions, or by the combination of certain fortuitous causes.

I'm understanding this as implying an acknowledgement of knowing not being uncertain. It's an assurance of mind that the son of man is to come, the knowing and/or understanding this before tasting death or before reaching the end of their life.

I believe this passaged refers to John, who wrote Revelations. John saw the son of man coming in his kingdom via his visions. John recorded his vision and lived to old age and died in exile.

Revelations 19:11Then I saw heaven standing open, and there before me was a white horse. And its rider is called Faithful andTrue. With righteousness He judges and wages war. 12He has eyes like blazing fire, and many royal crowns on His head. He has a name written on Him that only He Himself knows.…

Yeah, that’s all well and good, but I believe the Bible is one big metaphor for the real world that we live in now. As you may or may not know I believe existence began around 1979 when I appeared on earth at around five years old.

That’s a cool perspective! I get what you mean about the Bible being metaphorical. It definitely feels like it reflects our experiences today in a lot of ways. And the whole idea of existence starting when you did is pretty wild.
