I found this unintentionally hilarious pic on the internet

thought I'd share it here

It is obviously from the medieval period

babyandwoman.jpg

The woman looks as though she's repulsed by her baby and wants to get rid of it

And the baby is looking at her with a mixture of startled fear and disgust

Perhaps it knows she doesn't want it?

I love this picture!

Look how long the mother's neck is too!

Maybe just a bad artist lol. How do the other faces (and necks) look?
Edit: Did an image search, it's a popular meme. And the body is supposedly a baguette :D

Medieval Art was like that.
The artists would focus on colors and other details ...but not on anatomy.
Look at the hands and the proportions...

I think that a virgin Mary with a baguette bodyou is cuteasy but weirdly comic for that age to have messiah in that situation

For all we know this could be a minute illustration, blown up from an illustrated manuscript or something. That's why I'd like to know where it comes from, which apparently nobody seems to know.

That is a lot of variation with complexity but only a little shift from lights to darknow plus there are strange circular fold of skindness around her breasts

Because anatomy was considered worldly and so therefore, sinful...before the Renaissance.
Au contraire...anatomy is the main theme during Renaissance. Look at the Venus of Titian.
