"The CEO sketched his plans to build the “metaverse” – a digital world built over our own, comprising virtual reality headsets and augmented reality. “We believe the metaverse will be the successor of the mobile internet,” Zuckerberg said. “We’ll be able to feel present – like we’re right there with people no matter how far apart we actually are.”"

The Wired continues to break through...

Boy: ...Ah...
Boy: Why did you make me do such a thing?
Boy: Do you have any right to make me do this?
Boy: I just wanted to clear my head.
Boy: I don't know. I have nothing to do with it. You are... like God.
Boy: I have nothing to do with it.
Boy: The Wired must not interfere with the real world.
Boy: I have nothing to do with it. Who are you?
Boy: I have nothing to do with it... I have nothing to do with it...

Lain: No matter where you go, everyone is connected.

Mark Zuckerberg is a lizard.

I've read that Faecebook is plateauing now and does not appeal to younger people any more. So I think he's trying to put some distance between his holding company and a business that is moving into the cash cow mode - and falling rapidly from favour with lawmakers as well.

This has been coming for a long time. He should have taken note of MySpace, Bebo and other now defunct social media sites that lost out over time. It's natural that this happens and I fully expected it of FB as well.

In the metaverse we'll all be programmed to have no willpower to resist commercials.

Speaking of Facebook having problems.... having been on the internet for a long time, my best guess is that, like many other companies of the past, Facebook may not be around forever. There one day, a distant memory the next.

Some web spaces may do much better than others, though. Usually the ones not so large and complex, they tend to fall under their own weight, last longer, I think. Though there is no hard, fast rule, either.

Also, I think if Facebook starts relying on gimmicky things like Virtual Reality, things will fall apart even quicker. I'm not saying Virtual Reality is bad, per se. But I am saying that basing your whole company around it, could in some cases show a lack of new ideas and vision.

Actual Facebook will still be know as Facebook. I guess it's just the parent company changing names.

Even if he changed the name, everyone would still call it Facebook, for the same reason my parents still call all video games platforms "Nintendo."
