I just read that even Pat Robertson (who I think is a nut case) even thinks evolution is true (I guess he used his brain for the first time). I think (in my opinion...I might be wrong) the last election changed things big-time and it was a wake up call for the religious right.
The religious people are not dumb. They see where the future is heading and to still think the world is 6,000 years old will lead you to a slow death.

I've been listening to some conservative radio hosts like Mike Gallagher and even he is ready to "accept" gay marriage in which he was very opposed and said it was the end of America just a few years ago. Think about the future, which I'm positive that religion will decrease a lot, how much a lot of these people will change their view on things just to "live with the current times and culture". Give it a few years and even Pat Roberstson will think Gay marriage is not that bad. I'm a moderate democrat so I'm not a far left person but I'm a very convinced non-believer....
Here are some of my predictions for the future:
1. In 40-50 years you will be considered nuts if you are religious in many states including these: Connecticut, Washington, Oregon, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New York, Maryland, Colorado plus some more modern and "educated" states. I don't even for a split second include these states in this category: Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia and Louisiana.
2. In 7-8 elections (28-32 years) you will have presidential candidates that are open that they are not religious. I think this is already the case today but it is still not good publicity to say it....just give it a few years.
3. Once it starts I think it will go pretty fast and Americans will look at religion the same way as they do in other rich western countries such as Switzerland, Sweden, Denmark and Norway.
4. When I went to college in Colorado a few years back I know one person who was religious and the rest were not among the people I know at the business school. Maybe my college (University of Colorado) and the people I know were not a blue print of America as a whole but still. I still think If you ask a person if he or she is religious then they might say "yes" but in reality many and I mean many just don't care at all for it. They still feel some sort of shame for lack of a better word and say "yes" if they are religious. I truly believe this.
I also read that only 17,7% of all Americans go to church on a weekly basis. This is another example that religion in America is decreasing......
