Mississippi High School Cancels Prom to Deny Lesbian Couple

The Voice of Reason

By now, most of you that care have probably heard about the Itawamba High School in Fulton, MS canceling their senior prom so that they can preclude it being infected by association by a lesbian couple that wants to attend.

Could anyone be surprised by this act of bigotry from the great state of Mississippi?

I went to the ACLU website, to find the email address of the Superintendent (a Ms. Teresa McNeece). For those of you that are interested, her email account at the school offices is: [email protected]

You can also read the ACLU's letter to her, at this link:
http://www.aclu.org/files/assets/Fulton_Prom_Demand_Letter.pdf

I think I'll take a moment out of my day to let her know how much I appreciate the work of her and the board members for their open act of bigotry toward this young girl and her date.

Assbags.

The school was justified by not permitting
these two girls to attend the prom.
There is such a thing as public morality.
So to be fair to all, including the two girls,
the prom was canceled.
Of course this was not good enough for the
ACLU. They want a judge to force the school
to hold the prom. What arrogance!

Why was the school justified in not permitting the two girls to attend the prom, Romcat?

Why, don't be obtuse, Sunstone.

The school is justified because they are tasked with teaching the youth of Fulton how to hate things you don't understand. Couple that with the fact that these two young girls are going to Hell, since they don't agree with RomCat's understanding of God, and you have a great case for shutting down a dance.

Silly Sunstone.

Do you consider bigotry and cowardliness to be moral?
So to be fair to all, including the two girls,
the prom was canceled.
What logic do you use to consider the cancellation as "fair"?

The ACLU stands up for the equal rights of all Americans.
What arrogance!
Arrogance would be holding ones personal religious beliefs as a higher priority than the equal treatment of others.

There's a difference between public morality and public moronity.

The fact the school canceled the invent will result in further harassment of lesbians in the area; though it was not their fault at all, but rather their school boards.

I just want to spray some general frubaliciousness among all you nice straight people who are standing up for true morality--equality. Thanks.

I wonder if the students were allowed any voice in this decision....or was it just a few of the parents that were bigots that jumped on the band wagon and protested causing such an ignorant decision....

Next they will tell you that if your overweight or not pretty (handsome) that you can't attend a prom. What petty stupid people. After all these same students attend school with these people every day.....maybe the parents should just homeschool and never have to have their children associate with anything or anyone who doesn't fit their standards.

If I were rich I would send the money and give the prom myself and tell the school "hands off". ;)

I just don't get it, it wouldn't occur to a school body here to do this, they just wouldn't be able to formulate the concept that this was something they could get away with.

It just occurred to me; I wonder what would have happened in the same high school in 1960 had an interracial couple tried to go to prom. Any guesses?
