It's very inspiring seeing the mist and clouds roll their way over the top of mountain peaks.

I very much enjoy this view.

Around the corner yeah. Those are the mountains I can see from my backyard

A silly question from someone who's always lived in an urban area(amidst a sea of industrial corn farms)....

Does one living in a beautiful environment ever take such sights for granted, or do they always remain striking?

In my opinion, yes people eventually take it for granted, especially if they grew up around it/here.

I am trying to not let that familiarity make this a mundane event.

So, you're packin' your bags for the Misty Mountains, where the spirits go? ;)

I've seen similar cloud formations hugging the mountains around here. Usually snow in the wintertime. Sometimes an occasional fire in summer.

That looks like the kind of place you'd have to cross the Bridge of Death to get to.

It's a beautiful area, we are so happy to live here. The chateau is an armorments museum, fascinating.

The pics are taken from the place we go for picnic breakfast (yes even in thick fog), the river Dordogne and Castelnaud bridge are just out of view.

Cross it at your peril

That scene looks rather pleasant and nice. It's not at all how I pictured the Gorge of Eternal Peril to be. Does the bridgekeeper still ask questions before allowing you to cross?

Here in the central Sound, they are building high rise apts so fast that the view to the mountains are obscured. I had to drive all over the place to find a clear view to Mount Rainier!
