I think part of it might have to do with being from a religion/ path that does not currently have a moderator. I've noticed that a few people who join, if they come from such a path, become moderators very soon.

I remember them saying there was a glut of moderators, though. There may just be too many currently.

Traditionally, the best way to become a mod on ANY board is to show a procilivity to help others, a level head and don't ask to be one! :D

However, all boards differ in this in either philosophy or execution.

Well, first of all you have to go through what is known as "The Crucible". It's a grueling, 6-month trek into the heart of the Amazon, in which your only equipment consists of a machete and a laptop with internet access. There, your modding abilities will be tested to the limit, as you give posters verbal warnings while fending off pumas, boa constricters, sloths and whatnot. Once you're done with The Crucible, you'll be fitted for your Mod uniforma and helmet, followed by the ceremonial Mod-inductee paddling.

I hope this answers your question.

What?! I didn't have to sacrifice my sister?! Now I feel bad...

Seriously, though, I was asked to be one. It caught me out of the blue, probably via the process ND mentioned.

Werd!! Good tips.

When newbeetle.org created its 'Hot Topics' Forum for controversial discussions, none of the current mods wanted the job, and I happen to wander along.:bonk: The best thing about bein' a mod ain't the pay...assuming RF mods make the same pay we do. It must be the frubals.:D
