Modern Medicine

I think modern medicine and dentistry are still in the dark ages. I think we could be a lot further ahead than we are. What do you think is holding the medical technology back? Is it greed? Is it big business drug companies? Is it the FDA? What are your ideas for possible cures?

I agree , in that no matter what period in histroy you look at , people figured they had all of the answers . Most people at else . :)

There was an interesting show on CBC radio awhile back ... yea , they do have a few interesting programs . :) It was about " Miracle Cures ". They were talking about penicillin and the belief when it was discovered that it was such a Miracle Cure . People thought that they had something that would cure anything . They implied that the medical profession promoted that belief as a power struggle agaisnt " home medicine ". Many in the medical field still turn up their noses at any other possible means of medicine or health care . That alone has kept many possible cures and treatments from being studied . No doctor wants to be seem as a quack .

Today we are starting to look back on many of those traditional medicines . Hopefully we will be able to keep an open mind and perhaps find a few more answers ?

I lived in Mexico for a while, you would be amazed at how much better treatment you get there with basic care. I would not want to have anything serious happen to me there, as they don't have the technology, but they are not afraid to treat you when you are sick. Here in the US, most of the time they will not do anything if they don't have to. They want to save the HMO money, or they don't want to risk a malpractice suit

People live unhealthy lives so they pay for it later. There is a price for pigging out and sitting on our butts all day. Medicine is just meeting America's 'gimme a pill to fix it' mentality as best they can.
