States rights.
Yes, although I think a statewide law also would be too tyrannical for my taste, but I don't think we should fantasize about regulating something like this. Parents have to have some sense of responsibility for their children.

Suppose we decided to punish parents who forced children to study for long hours. We could. We could outlaw this practice. We could say they were torturing the children and were making them near sighted. It would just be stupid, because parents improve over time. They learn from each other, and there is no book or manual about being a parent.

Does tattoo removal leave scars...

"How you treat your skin, and its condition, affects tattoo removal as much as when you got the tattoo. Though most people find that there’s little to no scarring from the process, it does happen.

More frequently occurring in those with darker skin tones, scarring can come about due to a loss of pigmentation. But this will likely come back over time and become less visible.

Does Laser Tattoo Removal Leave Scars? - Dr Nathan Holt

Is it painful getting a tattoo removed...

Rest easy — while laser tattoo removal can hurt, chances are it won't hurt as much as getting the tattoo did. Tattoo removal pain is comparable to the pain of a bad sunburn, and the laser pulses feel like a rubber band snapping against your skin. Cringe-worthy, yes, but tolerable.

How Much Does Tattoo Removal Hurt?.
Ahh yes laser removal. I keep forgetting that exists lol
I wonder, does that sort of thing cost a lot in the states?
Like here it’s usually fairly reasonable-ish. Depending on what you’re after and the clinic
Though if doctors use it for skin treatment some of the cost may fall under our Medicare (paid for by the government.) But I’m not 100% sure off the top of the my head

That's why it shouldn't be the business of the government to try to rule over individual private families with impunity.

I think that it costs more to get a tattoo removed than it does to get one in the first place. That is largely due to our pricing of medical procedures. There is a slight possibility of screwing up so the process is limited to medical professionals but one would think that the training for it should be minimal and almost anyone should be able to do it if they were insured against screwing up.

At 10 years old he can't decide to get a tattoo....but can't a 10 year old decide to take hormone drugs?

What am I missing?

"HIGHLAND, N.Y. (Gray News) – A mother and a tattoo artist in New York state are facing charges after a 10-year-old boy was allowed to get a large, permanent tattoo on his body.

According to Town of Lloyd police, 33-year-old Crystal Thomas was arrested Oct. 4 and charged with endangering the welfare of a child for allowing her young son to get a tattoo.

The tattoo artist, 20-year-old Austin Smith, was arrested Saturday and charged with second-degree unlawfully dealing with a child and endangering the welfare of a child.

Police did not provide details about the tattoo but said it is large and on the child’s arm.

Thomas and Smith were both released from custody on appearance tickets and are expected in court Thursday and Nov. 3, respectively."

Hormone treatments are reversible.

Whereas a tattoo is not.

It's false dichotomy being drawn here

"Hormone treatments are reversible"

Many of the effects of hormone therapy are reversible, if you stop taking them. The degree to which they can be reversed depends on how long you have been taking them. Some breast growth, and possibly reduced or absent fertility are not reversible.

Laser removal leaves a scar behind. You can get the tattoo "removed" the mark is always there.

And again, hormones are reversible (as you stated). They don't leave permanent scarring behind, or other disfigurations.

I've seen very few people that have had tattoos removed that it didn't scar. I try to speak from personal experience

Hormone treatment is reversible.

Tattoos are reversible.

Hormone treatment can have serious consequences and should be taken seriously, it should not be done on a child on a whim. Only after serious consideration and consultation with medical experts on the physiological and psychological effects.

Tattoos on underage children should not be done without parental consent.

An absolute across the board ban on either is an extreme overreach by government.

These days it's rare to see someone who doesn't have a tattoo.

I have no tattoos. Why? Because I'm a rebel.

I don't have any.
Why? Because its a promise I made to my mother.
I don't see anything wrong with people having tats. Two close friends I know, one I grew up with, have their own studios.

I don't have one either, because I'm often meticulous about details and know I would experience intense distress if I ever stopped liking the tattoo considering its permanent nature.

I like my body the way it came from the factory. Stock settings are best. :D

Since when has a tattoo been a medical procedure? It hasn't. Your hatred is noted by such an absurd question.

I'm not trans but I was given hormones as a minor as treatment for PCOS (though they thought it was endomotriosis at the time), just like trans kids are sometimes given hormones to treat for severe gender dysphoria and/or body dysmorphia. I have no problem with parents okaying treatment for minors.

I do have issues with preforming cosmetic surgeries and body modiciation on minors without doctor's recommendation or evaluation, though.

Ironically I have a medical tattoo that I got as a minor. (To correct scar pigmentation issues on operated on breast tissue after a breast reduction.) Dubious whether it should still be called cosmetic or medical/corrective but it was billed as a medical procedure and it was how I was allowed to have a tat as a minor.

Definitely not what the op was about though. Just a funny aside.

 Wow! You completely missed the point. Your bias is showing:rolleyes:
No, I just don't ignore what you say in other threads and don't give free passes to outlandish things, like seeing a cosmetic procedure and asking if a kid can't get that why can the kid get a medical procedure.
