Monterey Sunday

I spent Sunday today in Monterey (and Pacific Grove, Pebble Beach) California.

I come here often just to get away. To watch the brown pelicans, and the black oystercatchers... The oystercatchers are remarkable birds.

On Cannery Row is a nice little Nepali food joint, great soup and samosas. But the main thing I like is the coast line and along the Pebble Beach Golf Course.

You should come sometime. Bring an umbrella, sit on the beach and have a picnic in the cool breeze.

Here is a picture I took of the Lone Cypress near the golf course, it is the symbol of the Pebble Beach Golf Course. One of the branches has since fallen off since I was a boy. It is sort of a sacred tree to me... but one day, as in all things material, it will be gone.

It's a beautiful day. Now for some tea in Carmel.
