moral dilema

Is it fair to collect evidence in case your injured at work?

For example, I am consistantly asked to lift weights in excess of the companies health and safety documents. I have engaged the company in writing about my concerns but this still happens on a daily basis.

Also, I work with refrigerated foodstuffs, some of which are being left out of the chiller for "hours" when it should only be 20minutes.

I can't quit or shout too loudly or I'll loose my job. I have a mortgage to pay.

Is it fair game to collect evidence covertly in order to defend yourself at a later date or as supporting evidence in case of injury?:help:

Can't brain. Has dumb.
I don't see a dilemma...

But you can't be the only one in this situation at your work?

Surely there are others who are doing the same as you who possibly could back you up in the event that you are injured?

Besides - if there's something you can't lift, or if there's something that's unsafe to do - you are well within your rights to refuse. Far as I'm aware, you can't be fired for not doing something that isn't safe, beyond reasonable limitations.

Absolutely a good idea to do that. Would make things much simpler when it comes time to make a claim.

I need the job to pay my mortgage. Simple as that, I am looking for other work but that takes time.

I am covertly collecting evidence because I believe the company is failing to comply with health and safety regulation in several areas.

To be blunt, I am covering myself. If I am injured or other s*%$ hits the fan I have evidence to support my claims. I am not sure if what I am doing is illegal or not, I am not going to publish any of it or blow any whistles.

If I cant work I loose my house, if I am injured because of work I want to know I have done everything possible to safeguard myself financially.

It is also possible that the company will be visited by "environmental health" due to foodstuffs not being kept properly.

If our chiller fits 500 boxes I cant fit 600 in so 100 must stay outside. If I am accused of leaving them outside I need to show it was impossible for me to put them in the fridge and that I have followed the rules regarding reporting this issue to the company manager through my department manager.

Its really ****ty working in a place that makes you so suspicious.
