Movies out in theaters -- what do you recommend?

I recently saw "An Inconvenient Truth" and recommend it highly. Gore is a much better lecturer than he is a candidate. :) It manages to find a good balance when dealing with a danger, of not making light of the problem, but not getting so negative so you feel helpless.

It's worth it, just to see the charts and graphs, and the "then" and "now" pictures of places like Kilamanjaro...soon without snows.

In a totally lighter vein, I saw "Scoop" yesterday and it was just great! It's funny, there's mystery, there's romance, and it doesn't fit neatly into any "genre." Maybe that's why some reviewers didn't like it? Some of them don't like things that don't fit into neat little packages. Go figure. And besides, how can you resist Hugh Jackman? Woody Allen is his usual manic funny self. And Scarlett Johansson turns in a great performance. She even managed to steal the show from Jackman, and he's a tough act to follow.

Me, you, and dupree. It was hilarious. It also had a good message of friendship and how everyone can find their niche.

Click was a great movie. It was very sad, but the final message and the ending was a great one. Not sure if its still in the theatres though.

I heard the Celestine Prophecy is coming out soon, but it is an independent film and will only be at theatres that show them. If I see it out there, I'll let you know how it is..... the book is great though. Granted movies tend to be bad once you've read the book. I honestly don't even know what is in the theatres right now.......

D'0h!

This is the second time in the past half hour I've clicked on a post to find I'm echoing the header!
By all means go see Inconvenient Truth.

Scoop, though, I'm not familiar with...

Wasn't this movie already made? Or am I thinking about the Late Great Planet Earth?

The movie Descent is getting favorable reviews. I am a little leery of new horror movies but I heard many good things about this director. I even put his debut directorial effort “Dog Soldiers” on my Netflix Queue.

Oooo! I love scary movies! I'll have to try to get a night out without the toddler for the first time in a year and a half...

That's not scary. That's an acid trip.

Which is just wrong if you know you didn't take any acid.

Hence the horror! :cover:

Really? That's rough. :( We'd have gone crazy without my parents close by. I think my son may have been 6 months old before he spent the night away.

As for movies, my wife and I tried to go last night, only to discover that the movie we wanted to see doesn't open until next Friday. :( We can't wait to see "Little Miss Sunshine". It's got great reviews so far, and it looks hilarious.

I saw Monster House a couple weeks ago with the kids. It was cute, it will make a good Halloween time movie for the kids.
