Movies you love but refuse to rewatch.

an anarchist

Your local loco.
What are some movies that you love/think are great, but refuse to rewatch (for whatever reason).

I typically only watch depressing movies once. Like several anti war films where the fighting isn’t all cool but rather depressing.

I’ll name a few films that I have watched, and loved and thought were excellent, but I have only seen these films once and intend to keep it that way. These are some films that left me shook.

Paths of Glory (1957)
Stanley Kubrick’s anti war film set in WW1 France. It is not an action film, rather, it follows the tale of three men condemned to death by firing squad for “cowardice”. I think this film turned me against war most out of any film I’ve seen.

Grave of the Fireflies (1988)
Another anti war film, this time by the (usually lighthearted) Studio Ghibli. It focuses on the tale of a Japanese young boy and his younger sister surviving the Japanese homeland during the last years of WW2. Another excellent gut punch that I won’t watch again. It just hit Netflix a couple weeks ago just so ya know!

Schindler’s List (1993) and The Pianist (2002)
Excellent films set in the Holocaust. Need I say more?

I’ll typically rewatch depressing war films if they have enough flashy battle scenes.

So, what about you?

Loved the movie, but I've no interest in watching it again.
Same for the sequel.

Schindler's List
Loved the movie.
I don't want to re-live cringing.

BTW, I fondly recall Paths Of Glory. Great movie.

It was on fire when I laid down on it.
I don't want to be sad all over again, so I generally don't rewatch sad movies. I did make an exception for Life Is Beautiful though, and I cried thru the second time too!

I love Life is beautiful but it's too sad to be re-watched.

I loved the HBO series Chernobyl but it is unwatchable. It was traumatic to watch it...and one time sufficed to me.

I saw Chernobyl and I agree totally. Like I said, I made an exception with Life Is Beautiful because it was also funny. And I wanted my husband to see it so I rewatched it. He and I both cried at the end.

Well ...if I want to cry like a fountain...I just need to listen to the song...and the entire movie comes to mind. :)

I remember there was this class in high school. Cinema class.
It was the early 2000s. And of course the teacher made us watch The Pianist.
So many classmates cried...and I knew that I would not have the heart and the courage to re-watch it in the future.
There even was the videotape at home...but I couldn't.

In 1981 a 6 year-old child fell into an artesian well less than 11 inches wide.
The movie about this tragedy was very good...but I couldn't re-watch it because I cried and cried.

I’ve never seen Schniders List or Life is Beautiful. Hmm. I shall give them a try on a day I’m in the mood of being sad. Shall I dare watch both in a row?

Green Mile is a sad one I’ll never sit through again, but absolutely loved it.
