Does anyone know the nature of Mohammad's dowry to consummate his marriage to Aisha? Who paid for it? According to some research (if correct), it actually wasn't Mohammad. Thanks for your help!

I've done a quick research, and it's said that it was 500 dirhams.
And you're right the prophet Muhammad (saw) borrow them to Abu Bakr.

500 Dirham is the dowry of the Sunna. It is the dowry of fatima al zahra the daughter of the prophet; the Sayyida of the ladies of the whole worlds.

Ths dirham here is the Shari'i Dirham. It was made of silver. It is possible to find its equivalent in today's currencies.
The 500 Dirham dowry is not Wajib. There are hadiths encouraging low dowries.

Yeah, but do you know who Muhammad got to pay for the dowry? I don't think it would be Abu Bak (or was it)?

Edit: Oh, it looks like it was him! Okay, thanks much!
