Some people's atheism is inspired by a religion. :D I know my agnostic phase was entirely due to growing up Baptist. Now I'm happily Unitarian Universalist and pick and choose from all religions.
My own atheism isn't due to any religion. I disbelieve in whatever supernatural claims any of them make and have no use for their metaphor or symbolism or tradition. I'm secular through and through.

Yes, it seems just as likely for someone to just change religions if they have a bad experience with one, instead of becoming atheists.
