Music that gives you the feeling of dreadful depression or hopelessness...

Most music from the 60s and early 70s does that to me nowadays. Even though I enjoyed it during the day.

I have to say that the theme song that plays during the opening of South Park sounds like the devil. It makes me feel evil and yucky. Oooh I hate it.....so I guess that means this is not an answer you were looking for in the OP......but I had to get it off my chest.

Can't brain. Has dumb.
Anything by U2 depresses me.

Though.. not necessarily because of the lyrics...

Pink Floyd has some GREAT songs to bring out the depressive mood.

Though, some of their songs that musically sound uplifting, have rather depressing lyrics, in kind of an ironic, poigniant sort of way. Makes you kind of stop and think

From A Saucerful of Secrets:

Corporal Clegg had a wooden leg
He won it in the war, in 1944.
Corporal Clegg had a medal too
In orange, red, and blue
He found it in the zoo.
Dear, dear were they really sad for me?
Dear, dear will they really laugh at me?
Mrs. Clegg, you must be proud of him.
Mrs. Clegg, another drop of gin.
Corporal Clegg umbrella in the rain
He's never been the same
No one is to blame
Corporal Clegg recieved his medal in a dream
From Her Majesty the queen
His boots were very clean.
Mrs. Clegg, you must be proud of him
Mrs. Clegg, another drop of gin?

And from their album The Wall:

Goodby cruel world.
I'm leaving you today
Goodbye, goodbye, goodbye
Goodbye all you people
There's nothing you can say
To make me change my mind
Goodbye

(not necessarily what you think it's saying)

No music I like ever affects my mood negatively, but I hope you guys enjoy making yourselves feel depressed, whatever the reason for doing say may be...

Anyway, I'd imagine most songs by My Chemical Romance and Hawthorne Heights would do the trick if I were willing to put myself through such torment.

Let's go racing boys !
Anytime I am in a relationship that goes bad and we have enjoyed certain songs or referred to a certain song as "our song" is depressing. Once the relationship is over, I play the song over and over until I beging to dislike the song, thus I end up getting over the song and the person......It's darned depressing until I do get over both of them however...

Maroon 5 is in south africa at the moment. Their cool too...

But then, just about anything the british do is cool.

Though i like some classical music. I must not listen to classical when im depressed. It enchances the mood. There are some astounding classical music but its something i can only listen to when im rather upbeat.

Blue - A Perfect Circle

The Noose - A Perfect Circle

Jelena - The Gathering

NIN - A Warm Place

It's the moody/depressive qualities of these songs that make them so beautiful. The latter moves me the most but The Noose is lovely to dance to.
