Muslim family kicked off United Airlines flight for ‘how they looked’

It seems strange to me because clearly not all Muslims are being taken off planes and I doubt that anyone would be concerned about a couple with children. Plenty of Muslims travel in the USA but we don't get these stories all the time. The airline cited their reason as being linked to the safety seat and the family was rebooked for a later flight. It's weird but I wouldn't be surprised if there's some information we're not being told.

Errr.. I have to hear the airline's side of the story before I jump to conclusions. What is this safety seat request issue that the article wants to brush off as nothing. I tend to doubt a family with three small children were removed for ethnic reasons when thousands of all ethnicities fly everyday.

Safety matters are to be looked at way before the flight initiation. I guess there are things we can do too. Example: if someone can check the flight number and see if there are other available vacant seats, then they should have just given different seats instead.

I'm afraid it's religious not ethnic related. Also, safety matters are to be looked at way before the flight initiation. I guess there are things we can do too. Apparently you know more of the details of this incident than was in the OP linked article. I have seen no evidence that this was religious bigotry at this point. I just see the media source rushing to produce a controversy good for attention..

You implied it was for ethnic reasons first ;)

By anyways, how many cases do we hear of of making people leave the flight after it is ready to take off and why? Even in the worst airlines I can think of, Saudi Airlines, I've never seen or heard of such a thing.

Well, if it wasn't for the suspicion of ethnic/religious issues this wouldn't be a story at all and you wouldn't have created this thread. Being asked to leave happens at frequency I am not aware of exactly, but it obviously happens.

@Smart_Guy Plus the OP title said it was because '‘how they looked’. No evidence for that position has been presented. I'm wondering if this is how people that LIKE to hear about how evil American society is stoke trouble.

If you sit beside the emergency exit door you are asked if you are willing to open it if needed, and you are told how heavy it is. If for some reason one of the adults declined to do that, there could have been a tense discussion about it and that staff made the call that the person should be removed. The fact they had kids with them is irrelevant.

Another possibility is that one of the adults caused a scene for some reason, it happens, and staff have to put the safety of other passengers first.

We don't have enough info so speculation about a religious angle at this point is just mischievous IMO.

Muslims do have looks too. It was a family and the woman wears the Islamic headscarf as seen in the photo. The American society is not evil and I don't think such news imply that. I personally love Americans.

Islamic headscarf is typically specially modest/conserved and worn on modest/conserved cloths. Almost all women dressed like that in normal conditions are expected to be Muslims by people around the world, if not all of them.
