Muslim pubic hair

Ruling on shaving pubic hair

I recently saw a movie that mentioned Taliban actions on pubic hair and wondered if the movie made it up. I found that it does have a basis in truth. Muhammad made a ruling on pubic hair. It is recommended, but not required for everyone to trim it. It is only required if a husband orders his wife to shave her hair.

that shaving the pubic hair is a recommended act as well. As regards whether it is an obligation on the wife if her husband orders her to do so, there are two well-known opinions about this. The predominant one is that it is an obligation; this is in case it is not odd to an extent to prevent the husband from enjoyment, as when it repels him from [full] enjoyment, it becomes absolutely an obligation on her to shave it.'

To conclude, shaving the pubic hair is a recommended act except for the wife if her husband orders her to do so, or she becomes odd to an extent that her husband is driven away from her, in which case it becomes an obligation on her to shave it.

As far as I am aware, it applies both to men and women to remove underarm and pubic hair.

Odd how I was just looking at halachic opinions on male hair removal.

Mine tends to stay where it is

It's great mistake that you represent Taliban as "whole Muslims".

Taliban don't represent whole the Muslims, exactly as Nazis don't represent all Christains/Germans

I think you have misunderstood. Akivah just watched a portrayal of the Taliban and wondered if it was accurate in the wider Islamic context or if it had just been made up.

I did not see a personal opinion in OP :) ,show me where , I read a quote of topic about Taliban act, generalizing to Muslim , look at the title

If about Taliban , so the title should be " Taliban public hair", get it ?

Akivah wanted to know if what the Taliban were portrayed as doing was standard Islamic practice, is all.

Mustahab are those acts the prophet muhammad(phub) carried out. If you do them you will get rewarded, but one will not be sinful for leaving them.

It's mustahab(recommended) to trim or remove pubic hair and armpit hair, cut nails. This is for both men and women. Men also trim their moustache and are circumcised.

There's a hadith narrated from Abu Hurayrah that the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: “The fitrah is five things – or five things are part of the fitrah – circumcision, shaving the pubes, cutting the nails, plucking the armpit hairs, and trimming the moustache.”
Bukhaari (5889) and Muslim (257)

This all falls under the jurisprudence of purification( fiqh tahara). In Islam we believe there's physical and spiritual purification. For example giving charity, fasting is part of spiritual purification.
Shaving/trimming pubic hair falls under physical purification.

He didn't because he looked it up himself. I assume he was mostly posting it as a bit of trivia.
That's what I meant now.
Generalizing "trivia" done by a group of extremists is not fair ?

Look up to title,He said "Muslim" not "Taliba" , so all Muslim agree with that ?!

Just going by what is quoted in the OP, that it's an obligation for women if he demands her to and it's about his pleasure.
An-Nawawi (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Shaving the pubic hair is called istihdaad in Arabic because iron (hadeed) is used, i.e., the razor. That is Sunnah, and the purpose behind it is to cleanse the area. The best is to shave it, but it is permissible to cut the hair, pluck it or remove it with a depilatory paste…. With regard to plucking the armpit hair, that is Sunnah according to consensus. The best is to pluck it for the one who can stand it, but it may also be done by shaving or using a depilatory paste. It was narrated that Yoonus ibn ‘Abd al-A‘laa said: I entered upon ash-Shaafa‘i (may Allah have mercy on him), and the barber was with him, shaving his armpits. Ash-Shaafa‘i said: I know that the Sunnah is to pluck it, but I cannot stand the pain.

Ibn Qudaamah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Shaving the pubic hair is mustahabb and is part of the fitrah, and it is very inappropriate to leave it, so it is recommended to remove it, and whatever means one uses, there is nothing wrong with it, because the point is to remove it. It was said to Abu ‘Abdullah (i.e., Imam Ahmad): Is it acceptable for a man to cut his pubic hair with scissors, even if he does not cut all of it? He said: I hope it is acceptable, in sha Allah.
