Before converting to Islam it so happened that once Hazrat Usman RA was sleeping when he heard a loud voice (from the Unseen) saying something. That brought about his conversion to Islam. What did he hear?

Tough question brother, I can't seem to recall much on Uthmans acceptance of Islam.

What he heard was "Sleepers, awake, for verily Ahmad hath come forth in Mecca." (Source: Kitab at-Tabaqat al-Kabir by Muhammad ibn Sa'd)

Regarding which of his companions did prophet Muhammad(pbuh) say, "May Allah have mercy upon .......! Lonely will he live, lonely will he die and lonely will he be resurrected".

Subhan Allah, I heard about this Sahabi in a lecture some weeks ago. I know the full story I'm just trying to remember what his name was.

I will mention the story a little for those who don't know it.

When the Prophet set out to fight the Romans, this was just before his death, they traveled for about 50 days, the Romans got scared and left without showing up.

During the travel, the Sahabi in question, lagged behind because his camel was old and couldn't keep up. Eventually it died and he kept going towards the Muslim army and finally reached them. From far away, the Prophet sees a human figure approaching and says "O Allah let it be so and so". It turns out that he is the person that the Prophet asked Allah for. On seeing him, the Prophet said 'He will live alone, he will die alone, and he will be resurrected alone."

The scholars have gone on to comment this hadith and say that by being resurrected alone, he will be an Ummah - Nation, of his own)

Some years before his death, he and his family moved out from the city and went to live in the dessert alone. He eventually died there, and one of his sons goes into the city and I think he conveyed the news of his fathers death to Ibn Mas'ud or Ibn Abbas (don't remember which Sahabi it was). So thousands of Muslims went to his funeral on the request of the Sahabi who was given the news.

I think there was another hadith about him that even though he will live alone and die alone, many will turn up for his funeral, so that's why the Sahabi who was given the news of his death gathered all the people to his funeral.

Give me some time to try and remember his name insha Allah.

1. Some say his leaving Medina to go and live alone finally had political repercussions for the Caliph of his time. (It's not too difficult to guess the name of the Caliph; if you can follow my train of thought in this thread.)
2. He was from a tribe of highwaymen and was an early convert to Islam.

Alhamdulilah.

I have an interesting question, it may be a little hard, but I love reading and hearing the story of this Sahabi radiallahu anhu. I cry when I hear his name because in comparison to him, a million of me would still not outweigh this Sahabi on the scales of Allah.

Although I know only very little of him, I look up to him a great deal.

Here's the story:

Khalid bin Waleed led the Muslim army of about 13 000 men who annihilated the army of The Liar, Musaylimah who claimed to be a prophet and wanted to destroy the leader of the muslims, Abu Bakr radiallahu anhu, and the Islamic state altogether.

After the victory of the battle of Yamamah, Abu Bakr radiallhu anhu, sent Khalid bin Waleed with an army of 13 000 men radiallhu anhum to fight the Persian army who was on their way to fight the Muslims. And a well known fact of the time is that when one empire waged war on another empire, it outnumbered it's men 5:1. Khalid on the other hand, never followed that rule, he always went to battle knowing that he is outnumbered. So instead of waging war with a ratio of 5:1, he usually did the opposite and waged war on the ratio of 1:5. Subhan Allah.

Abu Bakr radiallhu anhu, sent a letter to Khalid radiallhu anhu and said to tell his men that whoever wanted to return home has permission to do so.

11 000 men returned home and Khalid radiallhu anhu was left with only 2 000 men to face the massive persian army. He wrote back to Abu Bakr radiallhu anhu asking for reinforcement and Abu Bakr radiallhu anhu sent him only 1 man as reinfocement. He was asked by his companions: "Are you reinforcing one whose army has left him, with one man?"

Abu Bakr radiallhu anhu replied with the following: "No army can be defeated if its ranks possess the likes of this man."

Some of the Sahab did not agree with this decision and one of them was Umar bin Al Khattab radiallahu anhu in fear of the Muslim army being defeated.

Abu Bakr radiallhu anhu was correct though, for indeed the Muslims defeated the Persian army with only about 2000 men.

So now my question:

Who was the one man army Sahabi that Abu Bakr sent to Khalid?

Is it the guy who converted to Islam from one of the tribes in the time of the Prophet(saws) who broke many swords during battle or is that Khalid himself?

No, sorry.

This Sahabi was sent to help Khalid in the battle against the Persian Army.

Unfortunately I don't know much about him in order to give any clues, and he is not very famous like the rest of the Sahab, he has become notable by his actions in this battle and the fact that Abu Bakr sent only him as reinforcement, so I'm just hoping that someone else has read the story insha Allah.

Since no one else has tried to answer I will name the Sahabi radiallahu anhu and I will make another question insha Allah.

The Sahabi's name is Qaqa bin Amr.

You are correct, the first battle was that of Mu'tah.

The other one might be a little difficult so I will answer it and because you got the first one correct you can ask the new question insha Allah.

The second battle was the battle of Yarmook (Yarmouk) against the Roman empire during the Khalifat of Umar bin Al Khattab radiallahu anhu.

It happens brother, we forget sometimes.

You don't want to ask any question? It can be anything about the Islamic past.

Ok since i think you have some in-depth knowledge of hadith can you give me some brief information regarding the Mahdi and the return of Esha(p)?
