I have, by my own free will, decided to write my creed in this public place.
On the Nature and Role of God
● I believe in one, uncreated, omnibenevolent and incorporeal God, creator of the universe
● Humans and all other living beings were created by God and evolved over time
● I believe that God governs the world via natural laws and scientific discovery
● Reason and personal experience are the only ways to God
● Love of neighbor and self is the proper way to worship God
The Bible
● Both the Old and New Testaments were inspired by God but were written by humans, meaning that it is not infallible, which God intended.
● The Old Testament, especially the Books of Moses and the Wisdom books, are allegorical in nature. Each book serves a spiritual purpose that cannot be taken literally (inspired nonethless).
● The New Testament, especially the Gospels, namely, the Sermon on the Mount and Jesus’ many parables, are to be taken literally.
● Paul’s epistles are allegorical in nature, but are inspired nonetheless.
On Jesus of Nazareth
● Jesus of Nazareth is the supreme example of the moral person and he is our spiritual authority
● I am quite sceptical as to the divinity of Jesus and I am not going to continue to bother myself with it anymore
● Jesus of Nazareth is the mediator between God and man, meaning that he and he alone can show us the godly and upright life.
● Jesus never claimed to be God or part of God
On the Hereafter
· All human beings will be reconciled to God in the life to come
