So i thought I'd share some of what today was like. Let me start with the baby room. They had me in there for a while. This one kid who today was their first day was crying. Only like 3 months old and I noticed she kept rubbing her eyes so i was like this kid is sleepy. The other teacher said the mom said the kid don't take naps. I go get a bottle feed the kid she goes into into a milk coma but as soon as i get up to put her in a crib she wakes up and cries. I sit back down rock her in the chair singing to her she falls asleep I get up she cries again. So i stand up by the crib rock her in my arms a bit she falls asleep again i place her in crib and she wakes back up and cries. So i dont pick her up instead i start rubbing her forehead with the back of my hand and sing to her and finally she goes to sleep and takes a nap. I was kinda proud of myself cuz usually i only get the older kids to go to sleep I never had to help an infant go to sleep until today so that was nice.

After that they put me in the two year old room where i stayed the rest of the day. The kids it turns out have plastic spiders. Around like 6. One kid picks one up and chases me with. I'm pretending to be scared and the kid is laughing having a good time chasing me. Next thing i know other kids saw this and started picking up plastic spiders and chasing me. A few more couldnt find no spiders so they picked up dinos instead. Now I'm being chased by over half the classroom. They corner me and start poking me with spiders and dinos. My coworker is dying. She is laughing her head off. Another student grabs my arm and say come here! So I stop being chased go with her to the play kitchen. She's serving me ice cream. Now im surrounded by about 10 kids shoving plastic food in my face and placing it on the table. Then next thing I know i feel a kid messing with my headscarf. I look and this kid got a toy comb and goes Im brushing your hair. She takes the ends that are tied in the back and tries to braid them. I say hold on a sec and I adjusted it without revealing my hair so that the two pieces in the back aren't short and are long. She continues styling my headscarf while her classmates are still giving me food. After a little while we all go outside and stayed playing until it was time to go home.

Im exhausted but i feel loved. So that's nice.

THIS is BEAUTIFUL. It is what life is about. Loving and being loved.

Children have such a beautiful way of bring life to us. I remember when the disciples tried to stop children from bothering Jesus (adults sometimes do that) - but Jesus said, "Suffer not the children to come unto me - for such is the Kingdom of God"...

We all have to remember how to be children - and you had the blessing to be part of it.

Such a beautiful way for me to start today as I read it! Thanks for sharing.

I may not believe in Jesus but I do love kids and I agree with you they have a way of bringing life to us

"Trust is not of our own making; it is given. Our life is so constituted that it cannot be lived except as one person lays him or herself open to another person and puts him or herself into that person’s hands either by showing or claiming trust. By our very attitude to another we help to shape that person’s world. By our attitude to the other person we help to determine the scope and hue of his or her world; we make it large or small, bright or drab, rich or dull, threatening or secure. We help to shape his or her world not by theories and views but by our very attitude towards him or her. Herein lies the unarticulated and one might say anonymous demand that we take care of the life which trust has placed in our hands.
K.E. Løgstrup The Ethical Demand (Notre Dame, IN: Notre Dame University Press, 1997) p.18"
