I am starting my own business from home. I know they are probably a dime a doze, but this is something I WANT to do and determined to do. Basically iyt is a repair computer business from home. I spend alot of time here for others already repairing all types of PCs, even the old Pentium 1s. All day I upgrade pcs, or FDISK or install stuff, so why not do it as a business?

Maybe this is something good for me:jiggy:

I converted a 233mhz with 64mb ram to 633mhz with 512 ram very easily :)

Soul that is totally cool and a great idea. I don't know much about Aussie economics but in the US you have to set up a small business so you can be taxed. Do your homework and don't be afriad to cold call or send out emials flyers ect. Even if you get a really cool job down the line if you build a client base from this two things will happen

1) you can still do this on the side
2) the fact that you have a client base will look good to future employers who like to see your influence in your field.

keep us in the loop ----!!!

Ah. Is C+ the C++ language, which I know you have, or is it a comp. certification?

Good Luck with this. I struck out on my own as a Network Consultant and have never looked back. Of course, now most of my revenue comes from the Internet, but that is the evolution of NetDoc Inc. :D

I think you should make a go of it. You obviously have the experience and skills needed to provide a great service for us technically challenged users. Too bad you are in Australia.

Good luck. It looks like your business will get started before mine. I am very happy for you.

Thanks to Microsoft, there should be innumerable opportunites for you youngsters to sort out the problems caused by MS's unwillingness to give adequate help. Example: You get an error msg "Invalid file name" and click for Help. Answer: "You have entered an invalid file name. Enter a correct name and try again."

My favourite:
Two guys in a helicopter are lost in space. The approach a building. They write a board "Where are we?" People in the building notice them, and promptly write an answer: " You are in a helicopter." The pilot says, "Great, now I know where we are". Passenger: "How the &%%¤?" Pilot:"This must be the Microsoft building. The answer is technically correct, but perfectly useless."

Sez I, after having spent days to find out which parameters necessary for connecting to the Internet were lost during "upgrading" and getting rid of MS W XP Service pack 2. I made it, but I'm too lazy to make a business out of it. I'll stick to just translating manuals and similar stuff from half a dozen of languages or so into Swedish.

hey Soul!
Why not-you enjoy the work, and you can earn good money; I am amazed at the computer 'illeteracy' of most of the people I know. I obviously know less than you, and yet, the number of times I have been called upon by neighbours who have bought a computer, plugged it in, switched it on, connected it to the internet, run it on and off for a few months without any care for virus checkers and spam busting software!
"I can't understand why it's running so slow" -as I am sure you must have come accross is of course the easiest to fix, within half an hour, you can switch the computer on again and look at the astonishment on the face of the owner, when all you have done is to delete all the cookies, temp files, off line content cache, and defragmented the drive.
I actually feel uncomfortable with that situation because I feel such a fraud!

The only other comment I would make is that to run your own business requires self discipline; I hope you have self discipline, and Hey, Good luck my friend,:)
