my own constructed language

I have decided to create my own constructed language.

I don't expect it to unite the world, or anything grandiose. It's just form my own personal entertainment, that's all.

It's just for fun!

I want this to keep me busy over the festive period.

As a part of this I am having a look at Esperanto, Toki Pona, and Klingon, to see what others have done.

I have also had a look at Japanese and have had some ideas from that. I'm also going to have a look at Welsh.

Does anyone have any helpful advice?

Indeed has anyone here ever made up a language?

That's cool. Is this in general, or more for a novel?

I've noticed some fiction books implement their own language.

I intend it to be a fully operational language!

I will write a book in which I will explain it.

You may want to look at Cryptophasia.

I've been working on and off on a cypher, but that's different. Written not verbal,
goal to conceal rather than communicate. Its a related field nonetheless.

The best example of this I know of is Tolkien who created the elvish language, so it might be worth looking at what he did. He was also a prof. in English literature and language and probably wrote about how the elvish language works. Anyway might be worth checking out.
