All you need is love.
I visited the historic Ryman Auditorium (Mother Church of Country Music) in Nashville, TN. yesterday morning. I arrived when the doors opened at 9:00 A.M. and I conducted a 2 1/2 hour paranormal investigation while I was there. Investigating the historic and haunted Ryman Auditorium is something I've wanted to do since the last time I was there a few years ago. Well, I finally had the chance yesterday morning. I went to Nashville with my husband, and I investigated the Ryman while he was in a business meeting. I had heard stories about the Ryman being haunted by the spirits of Hank Williams, Minnie Pearl, and Lula Clay Naff (she managed the Ryman for fifty years), but I was pleasantly surprised to see many spirits in the building. There is a Confederate soldier who also haunts the Ryman, and he's called the 'gray man.' He sits in Section 11 in the balcony, and I saw him sitting in a pew in this section.
I was told by an employee that Confederate veterans held a convention at the Ryman and the balcony was built to accommodate them. Ryman staff and guests alike have seen him either sitting or standing in Section 11. Speaking of the Ryman staff, they were very open and supportive of me conducting a paranormal investigation inside the building. They asked me questions about what I saw, and they asked me about the paranormal apps I was using during my investigation. I showed them what I saw using the SLS camera app, and I was also using my favorite Spirit Box app. A couple of the staff conducted burst EVP sessions with me, and we received direct answers to our questions. I only used my EMF detector app once to document the fluctuation results of an EVP. I was more focused on documenting the SLS images and the Spirit Box interactions than I was with measuring EMF fluctuations.
I interacted with several spirits during my investigation, and I could have sworn I saw Minnie Pearl, but I saw her out of the corner of my eye, and she vanished the moment I turned to look at her. I wasn't allowed to go up on the actual stage or backstage because there were crew members getting the stage ready for the next show. But I wish I had been allowed to go up on the stage because I was sensing a strong vibe coming from it, and I was sensing a strong vibe coming from the left side of the backstage, as well.
I wasn't allowed to go into the dressing rooms, either. I wish I had been able to get back into these rooms because that's where Hank Williams has been seen the most. However, I was standing on the main stairs in the lobby and I asked, "Is Hank Williams in this building?" and a male voice came through the Spirit Box and said, "Around you." I didn't receive any direct responses after that.
Oh, and by the way, I was pushed in the back about a second before a female voice came through the Spirit Box and said, "I pushed you." I was standing in front of a robed off area called the Confederate Gallery. I told her that it was a good thing that I didn't fall down the stairs. She didn't respond. I asked an employee if I could walk down the stairs by where I had been pushed, and she told me the area was off-limits because there were offices on that floor. Another employee told me about specific areas where some spirits had been seen by other staff and guests. He was very enthusiastic about me investigating the building. He asked me a lot of questions, and he told me some ghost stories, including a security guard seeing Hank Williams walking into a dressing room.
I took several pictures inside the auditorium and in other areas inside the building, but I didn't capture any spirits on my digital cameras. However, I did capture a few spirits hanging around with my SLS camera, and some of these images are posted below. I did manage to capture the Confederate soldier (the 'gray man') sitting on a pew in Section 11. The employees told me about him specifically, and they were excited when they saw the SLS images of him. Overall, I had a successful investigation of the historic (and very haunted) Ryman Auditorium. I wish I had been able to capture some spirits in digital pictures, but that's how it goes sometimes while conducting a paranormal investigation. The paranormal is unpredictable. I have been to documented haunted locations, and sometimes I leave without any tangible evidence. I've also gone to locations that aren't known to be haunted, and I was bombarded with paranormal activity. I know when there are spirits around me, but sometimes these spirits don't want to be seen or heard.
Here's a recap of the paranormal terms that I often use in my posts.
EMF - Electromagnetic Fields
An EMF meter (EMF detector) measure fluctuations in electromagnetic fields. It's a common theory among paranormal investigators that spirits have the ability to manipulate these fields. Unexplained EMF readings often indicate something paranormal.
EVP - Electronic Voice Phenomena
An EVP is the voice of a spirit interacting with living people through an EVP recorder or a digital recorder. A Spirit Box (Ghost Box) gives spirits the chance to speak in comprehensive sentences. A Class-A EVP is a direct and intelligent answer to a question.
SLS - Structured Light Sensor
An SLS camera can detect human shapes in absolute darkness or full light. It allows paranormal investigators to detect spirits that cannot be seen with the naked eye, unless the spirits manifest. It gives them the ability to see a 3D image (sort of like a skeleton) of a spirit. The green lines and white dots are a spirit that has been mapped out by the SLS camera through an infrared grid.
