My review of Half Blood Prince

Wow, there's NO word for this book.....
IT'S JUST SUBLIME.

The beginning of the book was great, starting with a memorable chapter on the real PM of England. He was going crazy about whether magic was real, then he was convinced a dangerous evil still exists.....
This book has become more darker than the previous books.
Love, sports, obsession, betrayal, fear and hope. It's all here.
I have had finished this book and one of the first to do so in NZ and possibly in the world, it's absolutely earth shattering, the ending.
I predict this series will be one of the all time greatests.
JK Rowling, you have outdone yourself.
Congratulations on writing a great book, your millions are well deserved.
BRAVO!

I have to wait till my grand son finishes it.
Can't wait
I don't understand why anyone would want to ban books of this type of fiction.

I am so bummed! I was all set to go get this to read with my 13 year old and my oldest is getting it for him as a birthday present so now I have to wait until the 28th. Is it bad form to put eye tracks on someone else's birthday present before they've read it? :D

This is a fabulous series!

Well, just under eight hours worth of reading...but I'm finally done with it.

I'm not sure what to say about it though.....
For how long the book was though, she managed to make remarkably very few things happen.

Argh my brother is hogging it at the moment. And then he is taking it on holiday with him next week. Nobody post any spoilers lol!

agreed - its blooming briliant - the ending is so dramatic and heart breaking - i honestly have no idea what will happen in the next book - but i suppose it had to happen how it did because otherwise harry would have ended up not being the main character

anyway - who was it in the news who wanted a ban on the books? how are they evil or devil worshipping?? unless J.K writes two versions for next year with an alternate ending where evil wins - could be quite cool! :bounce

I'm not so sure I'd use the word "brilliant"
The ending of book five captured me more then this one.
(that could be though that i suspected what was going to happen)

Ha ha, that would be cool.

While books four and five are still the best, imho, this is a great book. I agree that for the length of the book, not too much happened, just a couple of major things, they are definitly some of the most important events thus far. It seems to me that the majority of the middle of the book was just to get from the begining to the end, but not really in a bad way, and I wouldn't be surprised if some things from the middle may become important (I don't have anything particular in mind, but this seems to be how these books work).
And to state the obvious, I have a feeling that a certain name, as well as the person attacked to it, will become rather important in the next book.

Didn't she write two versions of this book? The normal version and an adult version? I saw both on Amazon.com and didn't understand. Could someone explain the difference to me please?

I still love the third book the most (when Sirius was still ALIVE :(), but the fifth book was enjoyable as well. There was more romance in this than the others, which wasn't too surprising. I'm a sucker for such stuff, though, and thought it was all quite cute.

Towards the end when Harry kept wanting to laugh during an... erm, inappropriate time, I couldn't help but think "isn't that a sign of mental illness?" ;)

And I concur with the suggestion of a spoiler-filled HBP thread... I'm dying to blab about it with someone!

Sirius was my favorite as well Jensa. I'll start a spoiler thread.

Circle one...I don't see a difference really. who knows...
