My Search for Meaning

Matthew78

aspiring biblical scholar
I'm a new member. I'm searching for meaning in life and the UU church looks very promising. I like the principles of the UU church and its commitment to social justice. I consider myself a progressive, especially on social issues. I'm undecided on economic issues though. I'm thinking that I would fit right in with Unitarian Universalism. I'm considering attending a local UU church.

To be honest, UU changed and saved my life. It has been the best part of my life for almost three years.
My church has given the support and resources to discover my Truth.

UU could be a wonderful fit for you.

Nice! How did UU save your life? I'm thinking the UU could be a wonderful part of my life, indeed! The more I read about it, the more I like it!

P.S. If you don't wish to share in the thread about what UU has done for you, you're welcome to send me a private message if that's more comfortable.

I'm very thankful for our local UU.

While I'm not an official member,
the community there
has no problem at all with our participation.

Very nice people,
TRULY accepting and non'judgemental
as a whole.
Profoundly and notibly so, actually.

They care about the community at large, yes,
but they also champion individual rights,
as well as individual differences.
This is what I really like so much
about the people there,
who have become at least some small
but notable part of my life.

I looked into them once. I contacted the vicar guy and we offered to meet up to discuss somethings and help explain their viewpoint. Then I never heard from him again

Hang in there, everyone. I'm glad you're finding something interesting. :candle::chalice:

Sometimes people have an expectation visiting a church or fellowship that we have everything all together. But, we're just a variety of people who are drawn to the same atmosphere as you are. Some of us are shy, some are preoccupied, or disorganized, and a lot of us attend church so sporadically ourselves that we don't know if you're a "new person" we should reach out to greet, or someone who's been attending for a year that we don't recognize. Forgive us if we don't walk right up at coffee hour and say howdy, or if the minister forgets to call back. We're not very evangelical that way. We let people have their space, sometimes to the point of seeming distant. :sorry1:

All you old established UUs, wake up and recognize that people are visiting all the time and deserve to be welcomed! :D
