Namaste, new member here

Jaya Jagannatha!
Namaste all,

I am a new member here. I do post in several other fora such as HDF and several other Jyotish sites. I was referred to this forum by one of the existing members of this forum - Jainarayan, he knows me by the name of 'Aspirant01' in HDF :)

My passion is knowing more and more about our religion - Hinduism. I love to hear bhajans to various deities, know puranic tales (which seem to be a never-ending ocean), perhaps also get to know some philosophical reasoning behind our various customs and rules.

I would love to contribute along the above lines here and there, my knowledge is not too profound, but I believe I can make some good posts now and then. :)

I am basically a Vaishnava, my ishta-devata is Sri VeeraRaghava (Sri Ram). But I hope you will not be offended when you see me quoting some story from a Saivite saint or praising the glory of ma Durga or Adhiparasakthi because I respect and believe in all Hindu deities. My maternal family used to worship mother Karumari Amman of Tiruverkadu, Tamilnadu. Thus, I bring in quite some diversity.

That's all I can say about myself, will definitely answer more if asked. Lastly, I hope such an introduction is appropriate and made in the rightful place. :)

Thank you,

Viraja

Namaste,

Welcome, always good to boost up the Hindu numbers.

Welcome Viraja. What is the meaning of your name?

Oh, it is the river Viraja surrounding Sri Vaikuntha. Liberated Vaishnava souls are supposed to get a dip in it before entering Vaikuntha, when they cast off their 'sthula sareera' and obtain a body akin to that of Sriman Narayana. I chose to use this name because it is both a female name as well as one that is very rare (or perhaps never kept) - I wanted such a name.
