Does it 'bother' you when members change names ? - do you somehow almost see them as someone new ? - I find name changes very ofputting, but that's just me, I guess - unless others feel the same, of course.........:)

There is an unsettling feeling at first, isn't there  . And, I think you are right, they just SEEM different. Might tie into appearance, eg. a new hair-do...

There is nothing permanent in life. Everything changes over time. The fleetingess associated with life is what makes the now signifigant and sometimes absolutely beautiful. :)

Hmm... It doesn't really bother me. If a friend asked me to call him something else, I'd be happy to do it, so I don't have any issue with this, as long as the person remembers to announce the change. It's nice, if they have a distinctive avatar, for them to keep it for at least a little while, so I can adjust to the change more easily, though. (Unless I know the person quite well. Then, somehow, it makes the change easier.)

Doesn't really bother me. Everything changes and this is no different. Whereas a user name may have fit someone before, a change in their life or outlook may make the name no longer fitting. The old name may be a reminder of the past that they are not happy with.

In my case, I got to migrate from Deut. 32:8 to Deut. 10:19, and introduce Jayhawker Silas Soule in the process. All in all, it seems a fruitful diversion.

I think that one major thing is obvious from this thread.

"The Fruitful Diversions" would be a great name for a band. I feel strongly about this. :149:

Well, I forget who people are even when they keep their names, so I get really confused when people change their names. I guess as long as Bob doesn't change his name to John, and then John changes it to Bob, then I'll be okay.

I second that. Want to start it together? :)

I don't mind. Just as long as they give a heads up if it's a big change, that way people like me aren't like "Where did member x's replies go? And whos this member y?"
