Native American Vote

From what I have read Gen X played a big part in getting Trump elected, but that’s not all.
I would guess that almost everyone assumes that the racial group that supported Trump the most was white people. According to exit polls 1 out of every 4 Black men in the US, and half of Latino men (and 40% of Latino women) voted for Trump, as did a majority of white women and 45% of women generally.

But what’s very surprising was the vote of Native Americans. Exit polling shows that 65% of Native Americans voted for Trump, compared to 34% for Harris.

Here’s an interesting article from the
Navajo Times…

And some related thoughts by Jon Miltimore…

“To be crystal clear, I’m not suggesting people should support Trump or his policies (which are a very mixed bag). I don’t give a damn if people like him or don’t. I don’t care if you voted for Kamala Harris, Jill Stein, or Chase whatever (I’ve already forgotten his name).

What I’m saying is we need to stop implying that people have a “duty” to support someone because of their race, sex, sexual preference, etc. This is nonsense. You are responsible to your self. Reject the class warriors and collectivists who see group identity as preeminent. That’s a path to the Dark Side. We’re all God’s children, nothing less.

As far as the huge number of Native Americans who voted for Trump, I won’t claim to know their motivation. But I do know that American Indian reservations are the most poverty-stricken lands in America today and have been for a long, long time.

If Native Americans believe that Trump can fix some of the dreadful federal policies and regulations (read about them here) that have harmed these people for generations, more power to them.”

Twilight Hue

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.

Several of the nation's I'm around are actually doing pretty good. The biggest being the Seneca Nation who are on very friendly terms with the citizenry and I visited the reservation multiple times and done quite a bit of business with them at the trading post.

But they are not on good terms with the People's Republic of New York which is run almost completely by Democrats who owes the Nation at present millions of dollars and dosent honor their debt to the Senecas. Particularly on the stretch of I-90 that runs through their land

Truth be told the Republicans aren't always honorable either towards indigenous nations, but they are a hell of a lot better than the Democrats.

Thanks for your perspective and insight. It’s true Republicans aren't always honorable toward the indigenous nations, but overall their policies are more beneficial than the those of Democrats. Some tribes are doing better than others. That’s how it is here in the NW, also.

I wonder....
Did he fix any when he was Prez?
That’s a good question.

The article I linked highlighted a few issues which the writer felt were positively addressed while Trump was in office previously…

- Under Trump’s leadership, Native American communities saw real gains in economic opportunities.

- Trump’s administration took meaningful steps to address these issues, such as signing the Ashlynne Mike AMBER Alert in Indian Country Act and creating a task force for Missing and Murdered Native Americans. These actions show a true commitment to protecting our people.

- He also addressed long-standing ecological issues like the Navajo Abandoned Uranium Mines, which had been ignored for too long.

His support for tribal sovereignty, through actions like the progress for Indian Tribes Act, gave us greater control over our own resources and futures

The Keystone pipeline comes to mind as unfriendly to Indians.
Regarding Biden...

The difference between Trump & Biden
seems not so clear, even if one person
feels otherwise.

Not Religious
People of all ages and cultures were under the impression the Biden admin was responsible for the price increases.
Even some Dems believed that.
They were all wrong and misinformed.
