Nature of a Stoic

If someone spent their life behind the scenes doing public service, dedicating themselves to philanthropy, making it a point to remain behind the scenes, would it be ok to call them out on their service like some people do when they call others out who are using drugs?

They stay anonymous because they are not interested in fame but are interested in doing their job to the best of their ability without publicity.

If they have done their job to, or above what would be expected then what reason is there to call them out?

However if they do their job poorly, causing problems, inefficiently, misuse of public money etc then yes, as loudly as possible.

Cool, I can find some agreement in that. But, this doesn't always happen but sometimes it does, which is why I asked if it would be ok to call a legitimate person out who intended to keep it on the down low? I have no idea why people would, unless there were unsatisfactory rumors going around and they felt as if the person deserved justification. How about people who really need to keep their business out of the general public's eye? like someone in the CIA or a porn star maybe? Or, someone generally viewed favorably being ousted as an orgy loving multiple partner weekend warrior to their more conservative friends. It could cause them a great deal of trouble.

Your OP talked about public service and philanthropy, thats what i answered.

As for those with professional (or personal) reasons to stay out of the limelight, if they are not bugging anyone or secrecy is needed to do their job properly i see no point in outing them. The weekend warrior or porn star, what happens in their bedroom is not anyone elses concerns.

If they haven't gone public, there's no justification to take them public, even if they are doing harm. Whether you want to give them cudos or grief, keep it private. When is it ever a good thing to embarrass an adult? (I emphasize adult because embarrassment has proven to be an excellent deterent to children shoplifters. -- in an age appropriate degree, of course. LOL)

Don't. If you did it to me it would cause a nasty argument because I don't like all the attention and don't particularly want to stand out or lead (I'd rather have an assistant position). I don't even like being occasionally recognized on the streets by people I don't recognize. But it happens.
I wouldn't mind the money the comes with being a celebrity, but to me the fame of being a celebrity would be a curse. I like doing my work well, and I also enjoy going on my own way and generally being left alone.

I watch the news channels and nearly all we see is mudslinging and accusations of incompetence, or worse ... legal issues dug up in hope to invalidate. I was just wondering ... Thinking about some religions how the prophets attempted to stay low instead being raised up to what many became.

Moving in the background, staying out of the spotlight gave the Prophets more time to carry their message. For average-man, throughout the Abrahamic Scriptures, we've been advised to move quietly and softly, as well as other Holy Texts that I can't pull to quote as easily.
Pr 17:28a "Even a fool who keeps silent is considered wise;..."
Mt 6:1b "Beware of practicing your piety before men in order to be seen by them..."
It's good to remember:

I like the general vibe, but I'm not sure how accurate that meme is.
